NFL Recap: Week 12
It was a weekend of redemption in the NFL! The Chicago Bears remembered why they’re one of the best in the league as they trounced the Vikings; and the New York Giants crawled out of their slump to beat the Packers. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints went back to making mistakes, giving the 49ers the win.
Chicago Bears 28, Minnesota Vikings 10
Jay Cutler was back after sitting out last week with a concussion, and the Bears needed him more than ever. At home and looking to redeem themselves after an embarrassing loss against the 49ers the week before, the Bears did it in fine fashion. Cutler was 23 for 31 with 188 yards, along with a TD (and an interception that in the end, didn’t matter.) The Vikings on the other hand, made it fairly easy. They couldn’t get it together in the red zone, either on offense or defense, and they seemed slow and sluggish instead of refreshed and invigorated after their bye week. This was their third loss in four games.
San Francisco 49ers 31, New Orleans Saints 21
The Saints looked like they were making a comeback; and then they met up with the 49ers. And while Drew Brees has been one of the only things going for the Saints this year, he may have been the reason for their loss yesterday — throwing three very uncharacteristic interceptions. It was in the third though that San Francisco really took control over the game. After another Brees’ interception, Donte Whitner returned it to the end zone, which put San Fran up by 14, a spot they wouldn’t move very far from for the remainder of the game.
New York Giants 38, Green Bay Packers 10
The Packers were the easy money going into this game, but it was the Giants that dominated it from the very beginning. Aaron Rodgers continued to get pummelled on the field, receiving five sacks and being held to just 14 of 25 passes. It looked as though things may swing Green Bay’s way when he threw a TD pass on their first drive, but that only accumulated 3 points out of their 10. By half, the game was nearly set at 31-10, and the only ones to move from there were the Giants — who have proved in defining fashion that their slump is in fact, over.
