The holidays are right around the corner, and that might just mean you and your family might be looking for some fun and wholesome entertainment. While there are always some of the classic shows out there, such as The Nutcracker, you might be looking for some other options that have a bit more of a modern take. Chances are good you are familiar with the movie Elf, starring the incomparable Will Ferrell in one of his most beloved roles. The moment this movie hit the theaters, Elf became an instant classic in the minds of most people who saw it. Many people rank it right up there alongside films such as A Christmas Story and Miracle on 34th Street. Quite a few families watch it every year when the holidays come around.

Now, you can do more than just pop in the DVD or Blu-Ray. In 2010, Buddy the Elf leapt off the screen and hit the stage with shows on Broadway and then with a U.S. tour in 2012. The great news for fans of the film, and the musical, is that they are touring again this year, and you don’t want to miss it. One of the nice things about the show is the fact that everyone in the family will be able to enjoy it. There is plenty of humor for the kids and the adults alike. For those few out there who might not know the story, here’s a quick recap.

Buddy the Elf was an orphan when he was very young, and on Christmas Eve, he crawled into Santa’s bag of toys. He went to the North Pole with Santa and, since he was an orphan, was raised by one of the elves as an elf. When he grows up, he learns that he’s human and not an elf. He decides to set off to find his real father in NYC and discovers his dad is a man who has lost the spirit of Christmas. It is a true fish out of water story, and it is wonderful fun for the entire family. If the tour is coming to a town near you, make sure you get tickets for you and your family.
