NFL Recap: Week 4

Football fans breathed a collective sigh of relief as we watched the regular refs back in action this week (well, all except the Packers anyway), and good football was back on the field. With that said, let’s get on with the best games of the week.

New England Patriots 52, Buffalo Bills 28
Before Sunday it seemed as though the formidable New England Patriots had a new foe in the much weaker Buffalo Bills. It looked like the Bills might have once had again had the Pats beat in the first half, as they were leading 21 — 7. But then came the six turnovers the Bills gave away shortly after that, at the same time the Patriots decided to turn it on and play football. The crushing defeat wasn’t far away after that.

Green Bay Packers 28, New Orleans Saints 27
No one was going to just give this game to Green Bay because of their unjust loss last week; but the regular refs weren’t much better for the Packers than the replacement ones were. After Jordy Nelson caught the go-ahead touchdown pass that Aaron Rodgers threw to Jordy Nelson with only seven minutes remaining, Darren Sproles fumbled the next kickoff, and the refs disqualified it due to contact. It wasn’t the first questionable call the Packers had suffered during the game, but more determined than ever, they still took the lead with one point.

San Francisco 49ers 34, New York Jets 0
Yes, the 49ers are a great team this year. But even that typically wouldn’t be enough to get such a blowout, and boring, game into our top three. The interesting story here though is why Rex Ryan refuses to even bring up the idea of a quarterback controversy on his team. Sure, Tim Tebow may not be the greatest quarterback the NFL has ever seen; but Mark Sanchez has been downright terrible this season. He was the biggest reason for this loss, and the last three, and Ryan seriously needs to start thinking about making a change.
