Stanley Cup Playoffs Update
It’s one of the tensest times in the playoffs. About halfway through the round things still stand pretty much even for most teams, with many only trailing by one very achievable game. And with this being Round 2, teams are desperate to make it to the conference finals to not only take the title within that conference, but also to play for the envied Stanley Cup.
Boston Bruins vs. New York Rangers
Boston leads 2-0
The Rangers are perhaps the team that’s in the biggest trouble right now, trailing by two in their series. The biggest problem New York’s been having isn’t their goaltending, although some were disappointed with Lundqvist’s performance in Game 2; it’s their other top producer, Rick Nash, who just hasn’t been producing. That and the fact that Boston found their groove just as these two teams prepared to face off.
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Ottawa Senators
Pittsburgh leads 2-1
The Rangers can be heartened by this story — the Senators were also down two in their series against the number one seed in the conference, but they’ve managed to bring that up by one. With tenacity and maybe more heart than any other team in the playoffs right now, the Sens have certainly proved to be a tougher match for the Pens than many thought they’d be. Still, they’re going to need more drive than ever if they ever want to take on the offensive-heavy Penguins.
L.A. Kings vs. San Jose Sharks
L.A. leads 2-1
Last year’s champions are still looking to take the Cup once again, but this round’s going to prove difficult for them. This series will take the full seven games, and it’s all going to depend on that last game and who’s readier for it.
Detroit Red Wings vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Detroit leads 2-1
The Blackhawks undoubtedly had the best record in the entire regular season, but none of that matters now. Detroit was the serious underdog coming into this series, but Chicago will need to find new ways to win if they don’t want their superior season to be for naught.
