NFL Recap – Week 6
New York Giants 27, Buffalo Bills 24
The Bills looked like they were right back on track, going into this weekend 4 — 1. And they looked as though they may be headed for another winning streak until Lawrence Tynes kicked a field goal with just over a minute remaining in the game. It didn’t help that Bills’ quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had two interceptions, and the two touchdown passes he threw just weren’t enough to make up for them.
San Francisco 49ers 25, Detroit Lions 19
The headline was already made as the 49ers took the undefeated streak away from the Detroit Lions. But the real action was saved for the postgame show. After Jim Harbaugh slapped Lions’ head coach, Jim Schwartz, a little too aggressively on the back on the way to the locker room, Schwartz lost it, chasing after Harbaugh shouting and yelling, and needing a host of coaches, players, and referees to hold him back from Harbaugh. That play is currently under review by the NFL. On the field during the game, it was 49er quarterback, Alex Smith, who came through for his team, throwing the winning touchdown pass with just under two minutes left in the game.
New England Patriots 20, Dallas Cowboys 16
This was the battle of the quarterbacks most were waiting for on Sunday afternoon. And, just as many predicted, it was Tom Brady who came out the champion, despite the fact that he threw two interceptions. Still, with only 22 seconds left on the clock, Brady threw a touchdown pass that put the Pats up, and left Romo once again shaking his head over the fact that once again, his team was so close but yet, so far away.
Atlanta Falcons 31, Carolina Panthers 17
Even though they were down by three points, the Atlanta Falcons rallied back in the fourth quarter, scoring a total of 17 points for which the Panthers had no answer for. The score may not have been a close one, but both teams certainly gave fans a lot to watch on the field on Sunday.
Baltimore Ravens 29, Houston Texans 14
Watching this game, you might have thought that you were watching the game over in Atlanta; this one played out much the same. While the Ravens trailed the Texans by just one in the second half, they came back to score another 16, with Houston getting no additional marks on the board. Billy Cundiff once again proved to be a big star for Baltimore, kicking five field goals on Sunday, and it’s Cundiff who has definitely been a big player in helping the Ravens take their last three games. The Texans on the other hand, have a lot of work to do as they are now 3-3 and are dwindling their playoff chances by the week.
