Detroit Lions History

Though the Detroit Lions are a team to have never won the NFC conference and make it to a Super Bowl, they did have their own golden period of time back in the 1950's. The Lions organization was actually founded in the town of Portsmouth, Ohio in 1929 making them one of the oldest teams in the NFL. With the curse in place, the Lions of struggles for success ever since. They would only make it to playoff football 14 times in their long history and most of these came in the 1990's thanks to Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders great career. However since his retirement, the Lions have been building one of the youngest and most talented teams in the NFL and the glory days may once again be right around the corner.
