NFL Recap: Week 6
Green Bay has taken away Houston’s undefeated streak, and the Giants proved to the 49ers why they are the better team after all. Meanwhile in Baltimore, the Cowboys lost a game everyone knew they were going to. These were the three best games in football this week, and we’ve covered them.
New York Giants 26, San Francisco 49ers 3
It was a crushing defeat for the 49ers yesterday, proving that if they want to be the NFC, they still have to get by the Giants to do it. Eli Manning didn’t even play a huge role, throwing for 193 yards and scoring only one of the Giants’ touchdowns. Lawrence Tynes on the other hand had four field goals; while Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 116 yards and scored once. As indicated by the score, San Fran never had a chance. Being one of the best teams in the league this year, they simply fell apart on Sunday, with Alex Smith getting sacked six times and a sprinkling of interceptions.
Green Bay Packers 42, Houston Texans 24
The Houston Texans were one of the teams to beat this year and yesterday, the Packers did. It was the best game of the season for the Packers, and they needed it. Being down 1-3, the Packers didn’t look as though they’d ever get it together after last week, but Aaron Rodgers came out fighting for them. Completing 24 of 37 passes for 338 yards, and making six touchdown passes, it’s clear why this man still holds the title of MVP — even if his first few games were a little shaky. The Texans on the other hand, can’t complain too much of losing their streak after all but falling apart in front of the Packers on Sunday.
Baltimore Ravens 31, Dallas Cowboys 29
Don’t let the close score fool you. Dallas was clearly the worst team in this game on Sunday, and it showed. While the Cowboys played very well for most of the day, they once again showed that they’ve got no follow-through. After capitalizing on some Baltimore injuries that forced some of their best players to miss the game, and making the most of the few mistakes Baltimore made, it looked as though the Cowboys were going to win this game that they never should have. But when it came down to the last 26 seconds, Romo did what he’s best at — he panicked, and that gave the Ravens the win.
