NFL Preview: Week 16
While the NFL schedule may not hold the same allure it did last week, there are still lots of games to be played before playoffs start. That means many are still trying to make it in, while some are just clinging desperately to their spot. Without further delay, let’s take a look at this week’s top games.
New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys
The New Orleans Saints may not be out of the playoffs just yet, but let’s not kid ourselves. The reason we’ll be watching this game on Sunday is to see if the Cowboys can hang onto their first place position in the NFC East, and possibly knock the Redskins out of the spot they currently share. Tony Romo has made the difference for this team as they come down the stretch, and after a slow start to the season, it was just when they needed him. The Saints have won the last three meetings in Cowboys Stadium, but Dallas has more to play for now than ever. And we don’t think they’re going to let Drew Brees and Co. take it away from them.
Cleveland Browns at Denver Broncos
Just like in Dallas, the Broncos had a shaky start to the year. But get Peyton Manning on the field just a few times and he’ll back in fine form in no time — and that’s just what’s happened. Manning is the reason the Broncos are looking for their 11th straight win, and a bye the first week of the playoffs. Denver has taken the last 20 of 22 meetings when these two meet; and it’s likely that they’re going to take this one, too.
San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
The Niners are having a great year and want to clinch the NFC West title on Sunday for the second year in a row. But it’s going to be tough. While they have the stats over Seattle, not one team has been able to beat the Seahawks at home this year; and that says a lot. Seattle is also a high-scoring team this year; and even with San Fran’s top-scoring defense, that’s going to make it tougher. San Francisco has also won four straight games against this team, but Seattle has won their last five of six games; three of them being consecutive wins. If you’re still waiting for the game to watch on Sunday, this completely unpredictable one is it.
