NFL Preview: Week 15

It’s halfway through December, with NFL playoffs right around the corner. As if that wasn’t enough excitement, this week’s schedule is outstanding and pits some of the best teams in the league against each other. That being said, let’s jump right in and look at the great games lined up for us this weekend.

New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons have been on a losing streak, while the Giants are still riding their high from crushing the Saints 52-27 last week. And when the Giants and Falcons met in the playoffs last year, the Giants dominated with a 24-2 win. These stats may seem to have the scales tipping in New York’s favor, especially with the strong performance rookie running back David Wilson has been showing. The Giants can’t afford to lose, which could put Washington up in the standings. The Falcons on the other hand, are still playing for home field advantage in the playoffs; and to prove that they haven’t lost their mojo.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
This is the one to watch this Sunday! One of the biggest rivalries in the league, and what stories these two bring. The Packers, after a shocking exit at the Super Bowl last year (at the hands of the New York Giants,) the Packers had a still surprising poor start to their season. Meanwhile in Chicago, the Bears were unstoppable and looked like favorites to at least take the NFC North, if not the Lombardi Trophy. But lately these two teams have flipped the script, and now it’s actually the Packers that are on track to take the NFC North title. It’s also Green Bay that’s won seven of their last eight games; while Chicago has lost four out of their last five. Do you really need more reason to watch?

San Francisco 49ers at New England Patriots
This one looks much like the game at Wrigley’s Field will look, with the Niners having a terrific start to the season, but dropping to 9-3-1. The Pats meanwhile got off to a slow start, but are now up 10-3 and are looking for their 14th consecutive win. Tom Brady is much of the reason, along with the team’s ability to come together and build themselves around his plays; but his receiving team including Donte Stallworth and Julian Edelman are on injured reserve this week. Meanwhile, Colin Kaepernick has been outstanding in his second year as San Francisco’s quarterback, and if he stays on point, his team may just be able to give the Pats a run for their money.
