NFL Preview: The Packers and the Patriots!

In this weekend’s divisional round of the NFL playoffs, the games being played by the Packers and the Patriots are definitely the big storylines. But those are only two of the four games being played this weekend, and the others are storylines in their own right as well.

Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots
Tebow shocked everyone last week when he proved that having a little faith is sometimes all you need, but his team’s going to need a lot in order to beat the New England Patriots. Tom Brady has been unstoppable this year but the Pats have had a tendency to fall apart in the playoffs in years past, including their loss in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants in 2008. This season though Tom Brady has proven that his offensive team is nearly impossible to slow down, a stark contrast to Tim Tebow, whose heavy reliance on a running game won’t be enough to hang in with the Pats on Saturday. This is one of those rarities that while it’s a predictable game, it’s still going to be a great one to watch!

Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens
In a game that’s going to be just as predicting but not nearly as exciting, the Houston Texans are looking for their second playoff win in franchise history against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. While they had an incredible defensive game against Cincinnati last week, the Ravens are third in the league on defense and their offense is far more dangerous than that of the Texans. This one may not be a blowout, as the game was determined by only 15 points the last time these two teams met, but Baltimore will still emerge the victors.

New Orleans Saints vs. San Francisco 49ers
It might be tough to tear yourself away from the Packers’ game on Sunday afternoon, but if you want to see Drew Brees at his finest, you’ll watch at least some of the New Orleans game in San Francisco. This is one where it’s truly all about the quarterback, and that one being on the side of the Saints. To give them their due, the 49ers have had a terrific season thus far and have proven themselves fit enough to be a playoff team. It still won’t be enough to stand up to the Saints, but it will be fun to watch them try.

New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers
This is the one that everyone’s waiting for, and it’s not just to see if the Packers will have a chance to go on to win the Super Bowl one more time. But don’t let the aura of Aaron Rodgers completely overwhelm you, he’ll need to go up against Eli Manning. Looking at the season of the two teams it might be easy to give it to Green Bay, but Manning’s coming off the best season of his career. Green Bay probably will end up taking it, but this one’s also going to be a close one.
