NFL Conference Championship Weekend is here!
It’s the last week of football before Super Bowl weekend in two weeks, and the conference championships are looking good, albeit a bit differently than we thought they would. The Packers are no longer in it, but there are four great teams left to play it out for the two spots in the Super Bowl.
Baltimore Ravens vs. New England Patriots
This game on Sunday is full of headlines! Not only does it mean a chance for a championship ring, it’s also the rematch that both teams were looking for. Last time these two met in the playoffs (back in 2009,) the Baltimore dealt New England an embarrassing 33-14 loss; however Baltimore has never been able to beat New England during regular season. The Patriots have also had a slightly better season, with one more win than the Ravens, and they are coming off a nine-game winning streak. And even though the Ravens have had a good season, it was mostly due to mistakes the Texans last week that advanced Baltimore this far. And the chances that Tom Brady will make those same mistakes are unlikely. This one might not be the crushing victory that New England is hoping to avenge with, but they will deliver a deathly blow to Baltimore.
New York Giants vs. San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco didn’t want to play the nearly-undefeated Green Bay Packers, and the Giants didn’t want to face the New Orleans Saints in this conference championship and now, they’ve both gotten their wish. But which one of them will be eating their words? Their loss to the 49ers back in November is undoubtedly still fresh in the Giants’ minds and that will help spur them onto the win. Coming off a four-game winning streak will also help, and you just can’t rule out the team that beat the almost-undefeated Green Bay Packers. Chances are that Eli Manning is once again going to pull it out for his team and move them onto the Super Bowl on February 5.
