Ravens vs. 49ers in Super Bowl 47
This year’s Super Bowl has got some of the biggest stories going into it compared to many of the Super Bowls in years past. From Ray Lewis’ retirement, to Colin Kaepernick finding his game at the exact right time and of course, the fact that it will be brother against brother coaching from the sidelines, this one’s got a lot going on. Here are some of the biggest to watch for.
The Har-Bowl
It will be John Harbaugh coaching for the Ravens and Jim Harbaugh coaching for the 49ers. Neither has missed the playoffs in their time as coach, and neither has won a Super Bowl. They never thought they’d be rooting against each other, but don’t think brotherly love will get in the way here. They both want it just as badly as any other coach in their position ever has. This will be one of the most talked about stories on Super Bowl Sunday.
Joe Flacco
Joe Flacco had everyone laughing at him early in the season when he called himself the best quarterback in the league. After the Flacco Fling that he threw, and that also helped knock the Broncos out of the playoffs, people are starting to take him seriously. And if he can win this one for the Ravens, you can bet he’ll want his pay — up for negotiation — to reflect that fact.
Defense
Both of these teams have explosive defense, all you have to do is ask the NFL Network. They voted Ravens’ players Ray Lewis, Haloti Ngata, Ed Reed, and Terrell Suggs as some of the best in the league. But, 49ers Patrick Willis, Justin Smith, Carlos Rogers, and NaVorro Bowman were also included. It’s clear where the big plays are really going to be made during this game.
So who will win? Everyone’s giving this one to the 49ers, but we’re just not so sure. Colin Kaepernick is still pretty green, having only nine NFL starts under his belt; and Flacco has proven what he can do when the pressure’s on. Add to that the fact that Ray Lewis’ team has never been hungrier to give him a win, and we think that John is going to be the winner of this year’s Har-Bowl.
