John Cena and CM Punk Battle It Out Again…but Kevin Nash Steals the Show!

So, despite a much publicized falling out with the WWE, CM Punk has returned to action…and has already defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship.  (Wait for it…)  Though it was reported that CM Punk and WWE were parting ways as recently as early August, CM Punk returned to RAW on July 25th and immediately disputed the status of the championship–a championship he left with, and which Ray Mysterio and John Cena attempted to win via tournament.  Mysterio lost his newly won belt on the same night, and since the WWE’s Summerslam PPV took place, CM Punk won the belt yet again.

However, that wasn’t the end of Summerslam.  After Punk defeated Cena, he was attacked by the returning Kevin Nash (the ex-Diesel) and defeated by the ambitious luchador extraordinaire Alberto Del Rio.  Kevin Nash’s appearance was surprising, and yet not totally out of the blue (not “Nitro” style, to put it in wrasslin’ terms).  After all, we previously saw Diesel in the January 2011 Royal Rumble and at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, in which he, Triple H and Sean Waltman reunited to induct Shawn Michaels.

Kevin Nash did appear out of nowhere, just as CM Punk was celebrating, and knocked the outspoken champion out cold with a clothesline and power bomb combination.  Even Nash’s old buddy Triple H (who was serving as an impartial referee) seemed confused by the Big D’s involvement, as he returned to the ring only to watch Nash escape through the crowd.

Just as CM Punk lay lifeless in the ring, Alberto Del Rio strutted down the aisle with his “Money in the Bank” prop (signifying a championship match at any time).  It took only one kick to knock out a groggy CM Punk for a second time, earning Del Rio the three-count.  Triple H “ate it” as he was unable to make an order, as Del Rio had the right to bring his own referee.

Wow!  With all the craziness that has happened in summer 2011, professional wrestling is looking more and more like a soap opera!  Oh wait…that’s the point, isn’t it?  Don’t miss your chance to see WWE wrestling shenanigans in person this fall!
