NFL Recap – Week 9

The Ravens once again pull out a win against the Steelers, and the Patriots still can’t win against the Giants. Throw in a great performance by Tim Tebow and the resurrection of the “Dream Team,” and you’ve got a great week of NFL action!
Baltimore Ravens 23, Pittsburgh Steelers 20
This was the game that many were waiting for, as fans wanted to see the Steelers avenge their earlier loss in the season and come back and stop the Ravens for good. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be, even though it was Pittsburgh who had control after coming back from a 10-point deficit earlier in the game. Joe Flacco was the man of the hour, as he threw a 26-yard pass to WR Torrey Smith, who ran it with only seconds left on the clock to give Ravens the win and to end the Steelers’ winning streak. But who was to blame on the side of the Steelers? Many are looking to head coach, Mike Tomlin, whose slight hesitation cost Pittsburgh a late delay of game penalty; one they perhaps would have won the game without.
New York Giants 24, New England Patriots 20
With this game on Sunday, the Giants proved once again that they’ve got the Pats in their sights. It wasn’t just the first game between the two teams since the Giants won the Super Bowl against the Patriots in Super Bowl 2007; it was also the game that ended the Pats’ home winning streak — which had been going strong for just nearly three years. New England didn’t make it easy for them and they would have had the game in the bag had Eli Manning not thrown two touchdown passes in the last three minutes of the game for the Giants.
Green Bay Packers 45, San Diego Chargers 38
The Green Bay Packers are the team to beat this season, and they proved it by continuing their undefeated streak against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. The win was in part due to Aaron Rodgers, who completed 21 of 26 passes for 247 yards; and has a total of 24 touchdown throws after Sunday’s game. On the other side of the ball, QB Philip Rivers threw four touchdowns for his team but they didn’t seem to matter after he also threw three interceptions – all of which ended up in touchdowns for the Packers.
Denver Broncos 38, Oakland Raiders 24
He was sacked six times against the Detroit Lions last week, and had many doubting his future in the NFL. But with this week’s performance against the Oakland Raiders, Tim Tebow has proved that he is here, and he belongs – with a little help from his running back, Willis McGahee. Even though Tebow played his own style of game, running the ball more than throwing it, he still threw two touchdown passes and ran for 117 yards. McGahee on the other hand, did his own part with 163 yards rushing and two more touchdowns proving that together, the two might just be able to make a little Bronco magic.
New York Jets 27, Buffalo Bills 11
This one was no surprise going in and even with the home winning streak that the Bills had been on, it ended the way most expected it to. With a terrible defense and a worse offense, the Bills simply weren’t good enough contenders against the Jets Sunday afternoon. The bigger story is that, while they had a rough start to the season, the self-proclaimed “Dream Team” Jets now only have to beat the New England Patriots next week in order to sit atop the AFC East. That game will be one to watch, as the two teams met early in October this year and it was the Patriots who took that win.
