NFL Recap – Week 11

Green Bay continues the pace they’ve set since the beginning of the season, while the Buffalo Bills continue to fall further downhill. That and more, in this weeks’ football recap!

Green Bay Packers 35, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 26
The Green Bay Packers remain undefeated this season after beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. It wasn’t a blowout by any stretch though, even though Green Bay held a 14 point lead in the second quarter. Josh Freeman’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Mike Williams early in the fourth put the Bucs back in the game, and if E.J. Biggers hadn’t received two huge penalties early in the fourth quarter, the Bucs would have had a fighting chance. Green Bay will play the Detroit Lions next on Thanksgiving Day, but they’ll do so without their running back James Starks, who left the game due to injury on Sunday.

Miami Dolphins 35, Buffalo Bills 8
What started off as such a good season for the Bills has become a bit of an embarrassing one, and all eyes are on quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. With an average of two turnovers per game for his last two games, and on Sunday he delivered those in the form of two interceptions. He did have more passing yards than Matt Moore (209 and 160, respectively); but Moore also delivered three touchdown passes and no interceptions to help level the Bills.

Dallas Cowboys 27, Washington Redskins 24
It may not have been the crushing score the Dolphins had, but with this game in Washington on Sunday, Tony Romo proved once again why he’s a fan favorite (sometimes.) The quarterback had an outstanding game with 292 yards, 3 touchdowns, and not an interception in the bunch. Laurent Robinson also got a touchdown of his own, which definitely helped put Dallas over the top, and RB Demarco Murray also had 107 yards rushing. On the other side of the ball, Graham Gano missed a field goal for the Redskins both in regulation and in an ever-important OT. Rex Grossman was about the only player that mattered for Washington, finishing with 289 yards, scoring two touchdowns, and completing 25 of 38 attempts. With so many mistakes though, it just wasn’t enough.

Cleveland Browns 14, Jacksonville Jaguars 10
This game was not one with big storylines and to be fair, was a competition between two fairly mediocre teams. Colt McCoy was on form for the Browns, and with one touchdown and 199 passing yards, he definitely helped them take the win. Unlike Blaine Gabbert on the other side of the ball, McCoy did throw one interception, though it didn’t matter when the clock ran out. Gabbert did bring a good performance as well, completing 22 of 41 with 210 yards passing. But with no touchdowns to speak of and an incomplete end zone pass in the final play of the game, the Jaguars needed a little more from him.

Baltimore Ravens 31, Cincinnati Bengals 24
The Baltimore Ravens are a tough team to beat. But if they want to prove that they can play well consistently, they’ll need to start pulling it together in the first quarter. Running back Ray Rice did end the game with 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns, but most of those were gained during the second half of the game. Torrey Smith also stepped up for the Ravens, getting a touchdown of his own and ending with a total of 165 yards. The Bengals didn’t play badly by any stretch, with Cedric Benson putting two scores on the board and Jerome Simpson performed well even against an unrelenting Ravens’ defense. Too many turnovers by Andy Dalton though, despite his 373 yards and 1 touchdown, cost the Bengals the game.
