NFL Preview – Week 14

Without too many major headlines going into one of the last weeks of NFL football, we go back to talk about what we’ve been talking about all season. Will Tony Romo make enough mistakes to give the New York Giants their must-have win? Will Green Bay remain undefeated after Sunday’s matchup against Oakland? And what about Tim Tebow in Denver? Is he going to pull out his sixth win in a row?
New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys lead the New York Giants by just one win in the NFC East, and they’ll be on home turf on Sunday night’s game. But will Tony Romo be able to pull it out for his team? The Cowboys’ chances have largely depended this season on the number of mistakes Romo does or does not make. Being so close in the standings, and with both teams seeming to be hit-or-miss all year, this game is the one to watch this weekend if you like close odds.
Chicago Bears vs. Denver Broncos
Look at the stats, and you might think the Bears have this one in the bag. Look at the season, and you might still think that the Bears have a chance of putting this one away against Denver. Look a little closer at recent weeks, and it’s easy to see why the Denver Broncos will likely take this game on Sunday. Tim Tebow, a prime target for haters early in the season, has been outstanding, winning his last seven starts in a row. The Bears do have one more win against the Broncos in the two teams’ series record, but Denver also has one more win over Chicago this year. Add to that the fact that Chicago just lost quarterback Jay Cutler along with star running back Matt Forte, and you’ve most likely got Tebow’s seventh straight win.
Oakland Raiders vs. Green Bay Packers
At this point, Green Bay is just mowing down their opponents until they meet up with rivals, the Detroit Lions in the last week of the season. While the Raiders might have a shot of taking away Green Bay’s undefeated season, they’ll have to look a lot better than they did last week against the Miami Dolphins. Running the ball is going to be huge for the Raiders in this game, to eat up time and take away the Packers chances to score. They’ll also need to figure out a way to slow Aaron Rodgers down, which hasn’t been possible for any other team this season.
