The Rolling Stones Announce North American Tour Dates

When the Rolling Stones embarked on their 50th anniversary tour last year, it left many fans disappointed when they played only a handful of shows in London and New York. But the hopeful light at the end of the venue hall was that throughout that stint, nearly every member of the band kept teasing that there’d be more dates to come. It was never fully known whether that was rhetoric or something a little more substantial; but now we know. The Stones are going on tour, and they’ve just announced dates for it.

Sadly, it’s not a long international trek that they’re out on this time, with this new tour only consisting of nine dates in total. The good news is that those dates are scattered throughout North America, bringing them closer to fans this time around.

In unique Stones style with an unannounced date, the tour will kick off at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, and will pick up again on May 5 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. From there San Jose, Las Vegas, Anaheim, Toronto, Chicago, and Boston are all stops, with the tour wrapping up on May 18 in Philadelphia. Once the Stones are done in North America, they’ll head back to the U.K. for the Glastonbury Festival on June 29, and a show at London’s Hyde Park on July 6.

Before the tour has even begun people are already questioning if this will be it for the Stones. The answer this time? Most likely. Keith Richards’ health is failing, and the fact that there are so few dates booked in this tour would certainly indicate that the band doesn’t want to be on the road for too long.

That being said, the Stones are known for always bringing a high-energy show to fans, and this time will be no different. Keith Richards recently said while preparing for the tour “From day one at rehearsals it sounded so fresh. You could tell that everybody was dying to get their teeth into it. It was like…open the gates…let us out!”
