Sandstorms Are Nothing to Wu-Tang Fans at Coachella

Coachella is considered by millions to be the biggest annual music festival in the United States. It’s highly anticipated throughout the year and once it comes, there’s no stopping the party that comes with it. Fans proved just that this year while a monster sandstorm hit during Wu Tang Clan’s performance. And it didn’t stop the group either, as they told the crowd that there was “no disrespect to none of y’all, but we came to steal this **** tonight.” And while the sandstorm tried, steal it was just what the Clan did.

“We didn’t expect a sandstorm,” said the band’s frontman RZA, albeit a bit more colorfully, once the show was over. But this band is nothing if not resilient.

Wu Tang Clan broke out onto the scene 20 years ago with their debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang, and they enjoyed huge success with hits such as Shimmy Shimmy Ya, Brooklyn Zoo, and C.R.E.A.M. In 2009 much to the dismay of fans, the fans broke up. And ever since, people have been questioning whether or not the band would get back together.  Now they have, and Sunday’s performance of Coachella was a celebration of their twenty years together. Nothing was going to stop them, not even a massive sandstorm that made it difficult to even speak at times.

The group had announced two days prior to the performance that they’re about to release their first album in over six years. It’s called A Better Tomorrow, and fans can look forward to that being released in July. The expectation for this album is going to be very high, as the band’s last release, 8 Diagrams, was a flop among fans and critics alike. This weekend’s performance though was definitely reassurance that they’re on the right track.
