NFL Preview: Week 2
There aren’t a whole bunch of storylines on or off the field this week in the NFL. But Manning Madness is in full swing in Denver; and Green Bay’s playing, which is always a good thing. Throw in two coaches who very well could get into a fist fight, and the week doesn’t shape up to be so bad after all.
Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons
Denver fans are still riding the high from Manning’s start last week, which included his 400th touchdown. People didn’t have a lot of hope for Manning, and they certainly didn’t expect to see him back to regular form. But he is on point, and he will most likely take his team to victory once again.
But Atlanta’s a tough team to beat, so the Broncos will need to bring their best. Both Falcons’ quarterback, Matt Ryan and wide receiver Julo Jones looked phenomenal in their game against Kansas City last week.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
This is a big one for the Packers, as they had a disappointing start to the season last week; and they’re trying to prove that they’re still big playoff contenders. Rodgers has been outspoken that fans should not panic, and the Bears have never been able to beat the Packers on their home turf. With so much to prove, the chances are good that they probably won’t be able to this time, either.
Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers
This will be a great game simply because the 49ers are probably going to emerge as the best team in the league this year. Over the off-season the Lions lost a lot of their best players due to disciplinary issues, and that’s bound to cast a shadow over their year. But what’s to really watch in this game is what happens afterwards. Will Jim Schwarz take another lunge at Jim Harbaugh like he did last year? Will he actually take a swing at him this time? They’ve said they’ve both gotten over it. But everyone’s going to be keeping a closer eye on the post-game handshakes.
