Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Washington Nationals placed starting pitcher Doug Fister on the 15-day disabled list Saturday due to a right lat strain.

Fister lasted only one inning in a minor league game on Thursday after sustaining the injury. A timetable for his recovery is uncertain at this point.

He also missed time earlier in spring training due to right elbow inflammation.

Washington obtained the 30-year-old right-hander in a December trade with the Detroit Tigers. Fister won a career-high 14 games for the Tigers last season and compiled a 3.67 ERA in 32 starts and one relief appearance.

In five seasons with Seattle and Detroit, Fister has compiled a 44-50 record with a 3.53 ERA in 130 games (127 starts).
