Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Bobby Ryan’s late marker, coming after a potential Bruins’ go-ahead goal was wiped out due to review, gave Ottawa a 4-3 victory over Boston in the back end of a home-and-home set. Zack Smith, Patrick Wiercioch and Cory Conacher also tallied for the Senators, who avenged a 5-0 loss in Friday’s opener and won for just the second time in their last six. Craig Anderson came up with 29 saves for the win after being shelled for four scores in the third period at Boston. Jarome Iginla, Daniel Paille and David Warsofsky scored for the Bruins, who fell short in their quest for a four-game win streak. Tuukka Rask started, but was pulled after yielding three goals on 12 shots. Chad Johnson finished up with 17 saves, but allowed the winner.

Final Score: Montreal 2, Tampa Bay 1 (SO)

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Lars Eller scored the winner in the shootout to lead the Montreal Canadiens in a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. Eller had the first attempt for Montreal and faked back to the forehand before snapping the puck past Ben Bishop. Carey Price then made stops on Nikita Kucherov and Teddy Purcell for the win. Tomas Plekanec scored the only goal in regulation for the Canadiens, who have won three of four. Price stopped 23 shots in the win. Martin St. Louis lit the lamp and Bishop made 20 stops for the Lightning, who had a season-high five-game winning streak stopped.

Final Score: Detroit 4, Florida 3

Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – The Detroit Red Wings scored two goals in the first 80 seconds of the third period and held on to edge the Florida Panthers 4-3 on Saturday. Brendan Smith and Gustav Nyquist lit the lamp 38 seconds apart to give the Red Wings a 4-2 lead before Sean Bergenheim potted his second of the game for Florida. The Panthers couldn’t produce the equalizer despite a pair of power plays and goalie Scott Clemmensen going to the bench for an extra skater in the late stages. Captain Henrik Zetterberg and Daniel Alfredsson both scored power-play goals for the Red Wings, who have won three of their last four games. Zetterberg returned to the lineup after missing 11 games with a back injury. Fellow forward Justin Abdelkader was also back for Detroit after a concussion sidelined him for five games. Jonas Gustavsson made 30 saves and got some help from Smith, who cleared away Bergenheim’s hat trick bid with the Detroit netminder out of position. Clemmensen stopped 27 shots for Florida, which has lost three in a row after winning five straight games.

Final Score: New Jersey 2, NY Islanders 1

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Travis Zajac scored the game winner with 6:57 remaining to lift the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 decision over the New York Islanders on Saturday at Nassau Coliseum. Adam Henrique scored New Jersey’s other goal, while Cory Schneider stopped 30 shots for the Devils, who had lost three of their last four games. Frans Nielsen netted New York’s lone marker and Evgeni Nabokov allowed two goals on 25 shots for the Islanders, who have lost eight straight at home (0-4-4), their longest home skid since the 1999-2000 season.

Final Score: St. Louis 6, Chicago 5 (SO)

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Kevin Shattenkirk’s goal in the fifth round of the shootout completed St. Louis’ comeback from a late two-goal deficit and sent the hosts to a 6-5 decision over Chicago at Scottrade Center. All four skaters scored in the first two rounds, and after some solid saves at each end, Shattenkirk beat Antti Raanta with a low shot inside the left post. Brandon Saad was then turned away by Brian Elliott to end the contest. Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrik Berglund scored late in the third period to force overtime for the Blues, who played without leading scorer Alex Steen, placed on injured reserve prior to the contest with a concussion. Maxim Lapierre, Jaden Schwartz and Dmitrij Jaskin also li the lamp to help Elliott claim the victory in relief of Jaroslav Halak. Halak was yanked after allowing three goals on 13 shots in the first period. Elliott ended up with 17 saves in regulation. Patrick Kane picked up a goal and two assists for the Blackhawks, while Raanta made just 20 stops. Patrick Sharp, Andrew Shaw, Saad and Brent Seabrook all lit the lamp in defeat. Chicago has lost all three games to its Central Division rivals this season.

Final Score: Nashville 3, Los Angeles 2

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Mike Fisher scored his second goal of the third period with 26.4 seconds remaining as the Nashville Predators defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 at Bridgestone Arena. Fisher scored on a power play to give Nashville a 2-1 lead with 3:18 left to go in the third. But with Los Angeles goaltender Ben Scrivens on the bench for an extra skater, Jeff Carter one-timed a pass from Anze Kopitar and scored the tying goal from atop the right circle with 36.7 seconds remaining. The Predators quickly answered on the next shift. Colin Wilson skated down the left wing and fed Fisher in the middle. Fisher’s shot went off Scrivens, who tried to swipe the puck away before it completely crossed the goal line. The call on the ice was a goal and a video review upheld the referee’s ruling. Marek Mazanec made 26 saves for Nashville, which snapped a five-game winless streak. Scrivens stopped 28 shots for the Kings, who have dropped two straight in regulation for the first time since Oct. 4-7, the second and third games of the season.

Final Score: Anaheim 3, Phoenix 2 (OT)

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Saku Koivu scored the winner in overtime as Anaheim was able to rally after blowing a late lead for a 3-2 victory over Phoenix on Saturday. The Coyotes scored a pair of late goals to send the game to overtime, but it was the Ducks coming away with the win as Ben Lovejoy sent a shot on net from the high slot that Koivu redirected past Thomas Greiss for the win just 51 seconds in. Koivu finished the game with two goals and an assist with Andrew Cogliano also scoring for the Ducks, who extended their club-record winning streak to 10 games. Jonas Hiller turned away 23 shots for Anaheim, which has the NHL’s longest winning streak since Pittsburgh ripped off 15 straight wins from March 2-30 last season. Martin Hanzal and Keith Yandle scored for the Coyotes, who have lost six of their last seven. Greiss made 38 stops in the loss.

Final Score: Philadelphia 4, Edmonton 3 (SO)

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Michael Raffl scored the winner in the shootout as the Philadelphia Flyers took a 4-3 win over Ilya Bryzgalov and Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. After Sam Gagner missed the net on a backhand attempt, Raffl skated down and out to the left, out-waiting Bryzgalov before throwing the puck in under the crossbar for the win. It was the first time Philly had faced Bryzgalov since releasing him over the summer. He had signed an 8-year, $51 million deal with the team prior to the start of the 2011 season, but inconsistent play along with behavior issues saw the team bought out the final six years of his deal. He signed a one-year deal with Edmonton in November, and was making his ninth appearance on the season. Wayne Simmonds scored twice while Scott Hartnell added a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who snapped a six-game losing streak as the guests. Steve Mason made 13 saves in the win. Taylor Hall had a goal and an assist while David Perron and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each scored for the Oilers, who had won their previous two. Bryzgalov made 35 stops in defeat.
