Ryan Miller turned aside 25 shots in the victory. Mark Scheifele supplied both goals for Winnipeg and Ondrej Pavelec allowed four goals on 31 shots as the Jets have now dropped four of their last five.

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Sean Bergenheim scored and had an assist and Aleksander Barkov had a pair off helpers to lead the Florida Panthers to a 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. Tomas Fleischmann and Brad Boyes also scored and Scott Clemmensen stopped 28 shots for the Panthers, winners in four straight. Mason Raymond tallied the lone goal for the Maple Leafs, losers in five of their last six games. James Reimer allowed all three goals on 23 shots.

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – With Valtteri Filppula scoring a pair of goals late in the third period to spark an improbable comeback, the Tampa Bay Lightning extended the New York Islanders’ recent misery with a 3-2 shootout victory at Nassau Coliseum. The Lightning trailed 2-0 with under three minutes remaining in regulation before Filppula’s heroics, with the second goal coming with just 3.8 seconds left to play. He also had one of Tampa Bay’s two tallies during the shootout, with Nikita Kucherov accounting for the eventual game-winner in the second round. Ben Bishop helped the Lightning to a second straight road win after a seven-game skid as the visitor by making 32 saves. Evgeni Nabokov finished with 34 saves for New York, but faltered late as the Islanders fell to 1-9-4 over their last 14 outings. Kyle Okposo and Frans Nielsen each potted goals in the loss.

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) – Max Pacioretty potted the final two markers of Montreal’s three-goal third period, as the Canadiens rallied for a 3-1 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday at Bell Centre. Pacioretty assisted on Andrei Markov’s game-tying tally 2:26 into the third and then scored his 13th of the season on the power play with 6:42 to play before adding an empty-netter in the closing seconds to account for the final margin. Carey Price backstopped the victory with 26 saves for Montreal, which improved to 11-0 with three ties over its last 14 meetings with Phoenix. Mikkel Boedker notched the Coyotes’ lone goal, while Mike Smith stopped 25-of-27 shots for Phoenix, which hasn’t won in Montreal since Oct. 28, 1996.

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) – Jakob Silfverberg scored in his return to the lineup as the red-hot Anaheim Ducks cruised past the Detroit Red Wings by a 5-2 margin on Tuesday. Silfverberg was back in action after a 24-game absence because of a broken hand. Sami Vatanen, Saku Koivu, Corey Perry and Nick Bonino also lit the lamp for the Pacific Division-leading Ducks, who have won six in a row. Jonas Hiller stopped 16-of-18 shots for the victors. Tomas Jurco and Danny Cleary scored for the Red Wings, who have lost six straight. Jonas Gustavsson turned aside 8-of-11 shots before being pulled late in the first period. Petr Mrazek stopped 17-of-19 shots in relief.

Matt Read posted a goal and an assist while Wayne Simmonds and Mark Streit each scored for the Flyers, who blew a three-goal lead in Sunday’s game in Washington and lost the game in the shootout. Steve Mason turned away 24 shots for Philadelphia, which had dropped four of five coming into the game. Alex Ovechkin and Eric Fehr scored for the Capitals, who had won four of five. Braden Holtby allowed five goals on 35 shots in the loss.

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Matt Irwin and Marty Havlat each recorded a goal and an assist to help the San Jose Sharks continue their mastery of the St. Louis Blues this season with a 4-2 win at Scot trade Center. Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns also scored to support a 20-save effort from Antti Niemi as San Jose posted its third victory in as many meetings with the Blues in 2013-14. The Sharks have outscored St. Louis by a 16-7 margin in those matchups. Patrick Marleau and Justin Braun contributed two assists apiece to the triumph, just the Sharks’ second in their last seven overall. Kevin Shattenkirk and Jay Bouwmeester had the goals for St. Louis, with Jaroslav Halak stopping 23 shots in the loss.

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Duncan Keith tallied a goal and an assist as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Nashville Predators, 3-1, at Bridgestone Arena. Patrick Kane and Nick Leddy supplied the other goals. Chicago has now scored power-play goals in 10 straight games with Kane and Leddy both lighting the lamp on the man advantage. Antti Raanta turned aside 27-of-28 shots as the Blackhawks have won two straight and five of their last six. Nashville captain Shea Weber scored his team’s only goal and Carter Hutton allowed all three goals on 27 shots in the defeat, snapping a three-game win streak.

St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – Jason Pominville picked up the shootout winner to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks Pominville skated straight in, faked to his left and pulled back to his right before sneaking the disc just inside the post on Roberto Luongo’s glove side. Josh Harding stoned Ryan Kesler on the Canucks’ last chance to seal the win. Zach Parise and Charlie Coyle scored in regulation and Mikko Koivu had a pair of assists for the Wild, who have won two straight games via the shootout. Harding made 29 saves in the win. Jannik Hansen and David Booth scored for the Canucks, who lost for the first time in the month of December. Luongo stopped 30 shots in the setback.

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Colton Sceviour scored with 2:52 left in the third period to lift the Dallas Stars over the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2, in the finale of a home-and-home series. Ray Whitney scored a pair of goals for the Stars, who bounced back from a 6-2 loss to these Avalanche on Monday. Dan Ellis stopped 25-of-27 shots. Matt Duchene and Erik Johnson each had a goal and an assist for Colorado, which went 1-for-6 on the power play. Jean- Sebastien Giguere turned aside 25-of-28 shots.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Martin Jones posted 24 stops for his third shutout of his rookie season as the Los Angeles Kings took a 3-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. Jones played his sixth game of the season, and kept his goals-against average under 1.00 as he has allowed five markers in six games. He is the first Los Angeles goalie to begin his career 6-0-0. Dwight King, Jordan Nolan and Dustin Brown all scored for the Kings, whose loss to Chicago on Sunday snapped a six-game winning streak. Ilya Bryzgalov gave up two goals on 39 shots for the Oilers, who have dropped their past four.
