Tomas Fleischmann and Brad Boyes also scored and Scott Clemmensen stopped 28 shots for the Panthers, winners in four straight. Mason Raymond tallied the lone goal for the Maple Leafs, losers in five of their last six games. James Reimer allowed all three goals on 23 shots.

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – With Valtteri Filppula scoring a pair of goals late in the third period to spark an improbable comeback, the Tampa Bay Lightning extended the New York Islanders’ recent misery with a 3-2 shootout victory at Nassau Coliseum. The Lightning trailed 2-0 with under three minutes remaining in regulation before Filppula’s heroics, with the second goal coming with just 3.8 seconds left to play. He also had one of Tampa Bay’s two tallies during the shootout, with Nikita Kucherov accounting for the eventual game-winner in the second round. Ben Bishop helped the Lightning to a second straight road win after a seven-game skid as the visitor by making 32 saves. Pacioretty assisted on Andrei Markov’s game-tying tally 2:26 into the third and then scored his 13th of the season on the power play with 6:42 to play before adding an empty-netter in the closing seconds to account for the final margin. Carey Price backstopped the victory with 26 saves for Montreal, which improved to 11-0 with three ties over its last 14 meetings with Phoenix. The Sharks have outscored St. Louis by a 16-7 margin in those matchups. St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) – Jason Pominville picked up the shootout winner to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks Pominville skated straight in, faked to his left and pulled back to his right before sneaking the disc just inside the post on Roberto Luongo’s glove side. Josh Harding stoned Ryan Kesler on the Canucks’ last chance to seal the win. Zach Parise and Charlie Coyle scored in regulation and Mikko Koivu had a pair of assists for the Wild, who have won two straight games via the shootout. Harding made 29 saves in the win. Jannik Hansen and David Booth scored for the Canucks, who lost for the first time in the month of December. Luongo stopped 30 shots in the setback.

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Colton Sceviour scored with 2:52 left in the third period to lift the Dallas Stars over the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2, in the finale of a home-and-home series. Ray Whitney scored a pair of goals for the Stars, who bounced back from a 6-2 loss to these Avalanche on Monday. Dan Ellis stopped 25-of-27 shots. Matt Duchene and Erik Johnson each had a goal and an assist for Colorado, which went 1-for-6 on the power play. Jean- Sebastien Giguere turned aside 25-of-28 shots.

Jones played his sixth game of the season, and kept his goals-against average under 1.00 as he has allowed five markers in six games. He is the first Los Angeles goalie to begin his career 6-0-0. Dwight King, Jordan Nolan and Dustin Brown all scored for the Kings, whose loss to Chicago on Sunday snapped a six-game winning streak. Ilya Bryzgalov gave up two goals on 39 shots for the Oilers, who have dropped their past four.
