Reilly Smith also lit the lamp for the Bruins, who bounced back from a one-goal loss in Montreal on Thursday and have won seven of their last 10 overall. Tuukka Rask made 28 saves as the hosts kept pace with the first-place Habs in the Atlantic Division. Chris Kunitz and James Neal tallied for the Penguins, who saw their season-best five-game win streak halted thanks to some inattentive defense late. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 18 shots in defeat, which came at the cost of defenseman Brooks Orpik, who departed the game on a stretcher in the first period.

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – James van Riemsdyk scored 97 seconds into the game and again in a shootout, and the Toronto Maple Leafs got their first road victory since October with a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. The Senators rallied from a 3-1 deficit with third-period goals by Erik Condra and Erik Karlsson, but Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer stopped Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek in the shootout. Van Riemsdyk beat Craig Anderson with a backhand and Mason Raymond slipped a shot past the Ottawa goalie’s glove to give the Maple Leafs their second win in a row on the heels of a five-game losing streak. They had lost seven in a row on the road since a win at Calgary on Oct. 30. Phil Kessel and Jake Gardiner scored in the victory and Reimer had 47 saves. Clarke MacArthur also scored for the Senators, who fell to 3-7-1 in their last 11 games. They have lost five in a row and eight of their last nine against the Maple Leafs.

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) – Jonathan Huberdeau netted the game winner 3:29 into the third period, as the Florida Panthers edged the Detroit Red Wings, 2-1, on Saturday at Joe Louis Arena. Jimmy Hayes also lit the lamp and Shawn Matthias tallied a pair of assists for the Panthers, who won their second consecutive game for just the second time this season. Tim Thomas turned aside 22 shots to backstop the victory. Danny Cleary registered Detroit’s lone marker, while Jonas Gustavsson allowed both goals on 37 shots for the Red Wings, who had earned at least a point in 18 straight meetings with the Panthers, going 11-0-2 with five ties since a 4-2 regulation loss in the Motor City on Dec. 1, 1996.

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Mark Scheifele scored 1:04 into overtime to give the Winnipeg Jets a 2-1 decision over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Tampa Bay Times Forum. Blake Wheeler had the Jets’ regulation goal before later setting up Scheifele’s game-winner to help Winnipeg complete a successful six-game road trip with a 4-2-0 record. Al Montoya did his part between the pipes for Winnipeg, turning aside 28-of-29 shots in the triumph. Nate Thompson accounted for the Lightning’s lone tally, with Anders Lindback coming up with 34 saves in a losing cause.

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Eric Fehr posted a goal and an assist as the Washington Capitals took a 5-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Alex Ovechkin, Troy Brouwer, Karl Alzner and Nate Schmidt all scored for the Capitals, who have won three of their last four. Braden Holtby stopped 34 shots in the win. Roman Josi had a goal and an assist while Eric Nystrom scored the other goal for the Predators, who have dropped five straight. Marek Mazanec allowed all five goals on 33 shots.

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Eric Gelinas potted a power-play goal 1:15 into overtime that lifted the New Jersey Devils to a 4-3 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. New Jersey trailed 2-0 early in the second, but ripped off three straight goals to jump in front before Chris Kreider scored on a power play with 21.3 seconds left in regulation to bring the Rangers even. New York’s Ryan Callahan took a high- sticking double-minor 1:02 into the extra session, and Gelinas lit the lamp with a blast from the top of the right circle just 13 seconds into the man advantage. Michael Ryder, Travis Zajac and Cam Janssen each scored once, while Martin Brodeur posted 21 saves for the Devils, who snapped a three-game slide. Mats Zuccarello notched a goal and an assist and Brad Richards scored once for the Rangers, who have lost all three meetings with New Jersey this season. Henrik Lundqvist allowed all four goals on 24 shots in defeat.

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Andrew Cogliano scored a pair of goals and Frederik Andersen made 26 saves, as Anaheim rode an early three-goal burst to dispatch St. Louis, 5-2, at Scottrade Center. Nick Bonino and Ryan Getzlaf each contributed a score and a helper for the Ducks, who beat the top two teams in the Central Division on the road in consecutive games. Jaden Schwartz and Patrik Berglund tallied for the Blues, who have dropped three of four. Jaroslav Halak was pulled after giving up three goals on eight shots in 7 1/2 minutes of action. Brian Elliott finished the contest with 13 stops.

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Jiri Hudler scored 3:14 into overtime as the Calgary Flames took a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Kris Russell picked off a clearing attempt along the right boards and skated over to the left point. His pass made it through a pair of defenders and floated down to the low right side where Hudler one-timed it home for the win. Lee Stempniak scored the other goal while Reto Berra stopped 30 shots for the Flames, who have won three of their last four games. Taylor Hall scored late in regulation to send the game to overtime, while Devan Dubnyk stopped 25 shots for the Oilers, who have lost two of their last three.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Martin Jones made his second NHL start and stopped 16 shots to notch his first career shutout, as the Los Angeles Kings blanked the New York Islanders, 3-0, on Saturday at Staples Center. Anze Kopitar, Dustin Brown and Tyler Toffoli each tallied once for the Kings, who have won three straight games. Kevin Poulin permitted two goals on 23 shots for the skidding Islanders, who have dropped nine straight games, the club’s longest losing streak since a 14-game slide (0-11-3) from Oct. 23-Nov. 24, 2010.
