Seth Jones also scored for the Predators, winners in three straight. Marek Mazanec had 24 saves. Peter Holland and Nazem Kadri scored one goal apiece for the Maple Leafs, who had won their last two entering the contest. Jonathan Bernier allowed all four goals on 28 shots.

Steve Downie and Sean Couturier added a pair of assists for Philly, which won for the first time all season when trailing after one period. Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) – Gustav Nyquist scored twice as the Detroit Red Wings snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday. Niklas Kronwall and Darren Helm also lit the lamp for the Red Wings, who snapped their longest losing streak in close to 23 years. It was the first time Detroit suffered through a stretch like that since Jan. 14-30, 1991. Also, the team broke an eight-game home losing streak, which was its longest since Nov. 19-Dec. 20, 1986. Jonas Gustavsson made 24 saves for Detroit, which won its first game since a 5-0 decision in Edmonton on Nov. 2, and its first home game since a 2-1 win over Columbus back on Oct. 15. Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane each had a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who improved to 15-4-4 on the season and remained one point ahead of St. Louis in the Central Division. Patrick Sharp, Ben Smith and Brandon Saad also lit the lamp, while Corey Crawford stopped 22-of-25 shots for the victors. Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan O’Reilly’s power-play tally with 41.1 seconds remaining in overtime lifted Colorado over Phoenix, 4-3, on Thursday. Antoine Vermette gave the hosts a 3-2 edge with 5:54 on the clock, but the visitors struck back with Cody McLeod’s score at 16:46 to send the game to the extra session. Once there, the Avs failed to convert the final 1:32 of a charging call to Martin Hanzal, but ended the game after Keith Yandle was sent off for slashing with 1:35 to play in OT. PA Parenteau slid a pass into the right circle, where O’Reilly beat Mike Smith to the far side. Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Jaromir Jagr scored the game-winner 2:30 into overtime to lift the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 triumph over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday at Staples Center. Jagr was whistled for holding 17 seconds into overtime, but LA’s Dustin Brown received a diving penalty on the play and the teams skated 3-on-3. Just after both minors ended, Marek Zidlicky threw the disc to the slot for a cutting Jagr, who controlled the puck between the circles before stuffing it home from the low right side for his 690th career goal, tying him with Mario Lemieux for ninth on the NHL’s all-time list. Jagr’s game-winner was the 121st of his career to match Gordie Howe for the most such goals in NHL history. Ryan Carter scored New Jersey’s lone regulation goal 5:52 into the third, while Cory Schneider stopped 34 shots for the Devils, who earned their fifth win in six tries despite managing just 15 shots. Justin Williams netted LA’s only goal, while Ben Scrivens made just 13 saves for the Kings, who had their four-game win streak halted.

Brad Stuart, Brent Burns and Patrick Marleau also had goals in San Jose’s fourth win in five games. Logan Couture had three assists. The Sharks have beaten the Lightning five straight times at home by a combined score of 27-7. Tyler Johnson scored for the Lightning, whose first losing streak of the season reached three games — all on the road. Anders Lindback gave up five goals on 36 shots.
