Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Matt Moulson and Tyler Ennis both scored in the shootout to help the Buffalo Sabres notch their first home win of the season with a 3-2 decision over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Cody Hodgson scored a pair of goals in regulation, Moulson had two assists and Ennis added a helper for the Sabres, who have had three of their four wins this season come via the shootout. Ryan Miller made 43 saves in the win. Justin Williams and Dwight King had one goal apiece for the Kings, who lost goaltender Jonathan Quick late in overtime. Quick, who had made 15 saves, exited in the final minute of the bonus period with an apparent groin injury. Moulson beat Ben Scrivens through the five hole, and Miller stoned a pair of Kings shooters before Ennis potted the game-winner. Ennis got Scrivens to lean to his left before cutting back over to the opposite side. Scrivens was unable to recover in time and Ennis made him pay.

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Kevin Poulin stopped 32 shots to lead the New York Islanders in a 3-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. John Tavares posted a goal and an assist while Kyle Okposo and Pierre-Marc Bouchard also scored for the Islanders, who snapped a four-game losing streak. Patric Hornqvist scored the only goal of the game for the Predators, who have dropped three straight. Marek Mazanec allowed all three goals on 33 shots in his first career start.

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Dainius Zubrus netted the game winner late in regulation, giving New Jersey a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Ryan Carter supplied the other two scores for the Devils, winners in three of their last four. Martin Brodeur turned in a successful 33-save effort. Marc Staal and Dan Girardi scored for the Rangers, whose three-game win streak came to an end. Chris Kreider assisted on both, but Henrik Lundqvist allowed three goals on 28 shots in defeat.

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Alex Ovechkin scored on a rebound 94 seconds into overtime, lifting the Washington Capitals to a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. Ovechkin’s winner came after Mikhail Grabovski scored the tying goal with 1:45 left in regulation. Joel Ward had a short-handed goal and John Carlson also scored for the Caps, who have won five in a row over the Blue Jackets. Braden Holtby had 24 saves. Brandon Dubinsky scored shorthanded and Jared Boll and Cam Atkinson also lit the lamp for Columbus, which has dropped five in a row on the road and six of its last seven overall. Columbus defenseman James Wisniewski tried to pinch Marcus Johansson against the left boards but Johansson got free for a backhand shot on Sergei Bobrovsky that was blocked. Ovechkin was there for the rebound, scoring his 14th of the season as the Caps snapped a two-game losing streak. Bobrovsky had 30 saves for the Blue Jackets.

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – Patrick Dwyer’s goal less than a minute into the second period proved to be the game-winner, as the Carolina Hurricanes handed the Colorado Avalanche their first road loss of the season with a 2-1 triumph on Tuesday at PNC Arena. Jordan Staal notched a goal and an assist, Nathan Gerbe added a pair of helpers, and Justin Peters posted 33 saves to send Carolina to its third win in four tries. Paul Stastny scored the lone Colorado goal, while Semyon Varlamov stopped 26 shots for the Avalanche, who had won a franchise record-tying six straight road games to open the season.

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) – Valtteri Filppula scored the only goal of the shootout as the Tampa Bay Lightning took a 2-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. Filppula scored on Tampa’s first chance as he deked back to the forehand and lifted a shot high to the left side past Carey Price. Ben Bishop then stopped a Danny Briere chance before gloving away a Brendan Gallagher shot for the win. Just a day after losing Steven Stamkos for a significant amount of time as he suffered a broken right leg in Monday’s game against Boston, the Lightning bounced back to win for a fifth time in their past six games. Ryan Malone scored in the first period while Bishop posted 28 stops in the win. Briere had a goal late in the third period and Price stopped 44 shots for the Canadiens, who have lost five of their last six.

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Steve Mason stopped all 24 shots which came his way for his first shutout with Philadelphia, as the Flyers turned in a 5-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. Mason recorded his 20th career whitewash and first since Mar. 1, 2012 against Colorado. He distinguished himself as the second Flyers goaltender to record a shutout in Ottawa. John Vanbiesbrouck was the only other one to accomplish the feat with 36 saves in a 5-0 decision on Jan. 18, 1999. Jakub Voracek tallied twice, with Brayden Schenn, Matt Read and Vincent Lecavalier once each for the Flyers, who recorded back-to-back wins for just the second time this season thanks to tying a season-high in offensive output. Craig Anderson made his first start since Nov. 3, and made 26 saves for the Senators, who had won three in a row.

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) – Andrew Ladd notched the game-winner in the shootout to lift the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Bryan Little and Zach Bogosian scored one goal apiece for the Jets, winners in three straight. Ondrej Pavelec made 41 saves in the win. Pavel Datsyuk scored a pair of goals for the Red Wings, who have dropped four in a row, including three straight after regulation. Jimmy Howard made 19 saves in the setback.

Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Brad Boyes netted the game-winner 4:29 into the third period, as the Florida Panthers potted three unanswered goals to rally for a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday at BB&T Center. Trailing 2-0 after 20 minutes, Shawn Matthias and Scottie Upshall scored 1:10 apart in the second to even the contest before Boyes’ backhander early in the third put the Panthers on top. Tim Thomas turned away 32 shots, including 13 in the final frame to help snap Florida’s nine-game skid and give interim head coach Peter Horachek his first win behind the Panthers’ bench. Andrew Cogliano and Hampus Lindholm each lit the lamp once for the Ducks, who had a nine-game point streak halted. Rookie netminder Frederik Andersen entered the game undefeated in six starts this season, but gave up all three goals on 25 shots to absorb his first loss.

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored 56 seconds into overtime to lift the Phoenix Coyotes over the St. Louis Blues, 3-2, on Tuesday. David Moss and Mikkel Boedker lit the lamp in regulation for the Coyotes, who improved to 13-4-2 on the season. Mike Smith stopped 37-of-39 shots. Maxim Lapierre and Roman Polak scored for the Blues, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Jaroslav Halak made 16 saves. St. Louis was trying for its best start in franchise history on Tuesday. The Blues came into the game with an 11-2-2 record through 15 games, matching the best start by the franchise over that span first set in 1993-94 and done again in 1997-98. St. Louis lost its 16th game of the campaign in the aforementioned seasons.

Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Brad Stuart scored at 1:13 of overtime to send the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. In the extra session, Joe Thornton teed up a slap shot from the top of the right circle that hit off Stuart, who was in front of the net, and went past Reto Berra for the win. Patrick Marleau had a goal and an assist while Logan Couture also scored for the Sharks, who snapped a five-game losing streak. Alex Stalock stopped 11 shots in the win. Kris Russell and Mike Cammalleri each scored for the Flames, who have dropped their past four games. Berra made 32 saves in the loss.
