Brad Marchand, Torey Krug and Reilly Smith also scored for the Bruins. Jesse Winchester scored the lone Florida goal late in the third period. The Panthers have dropped seven consecutive games. Marc Methot, Kyle Turris and Mark Borowiecki added one goal apiece and Clarke MacArthur finished with a pair of assists for the Senators, who have won two straight on the heels of a five-game skid. Robin Lehner made 33 saves in the win. Andrei Markov had the lone goal for the Canadiens, losers in four straight. Carey Price made 20 saves in defeat.

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Martin Brodeur posted a 22-save shutout as the New Jersey Devils posted a 3-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Adam Henrique, Cam Janssen and Jaromir Jagr each scored goals for the Devils, who had been shut out in their past two games, including a 1-0 defeat to the Flyers last Saturday. Ray Emery, who had blanked the Devils on Saturday, stopped 22 shots for the Flyers, who have dropped their past two games.

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Nicklas Backstrom scored the lone goal of the shootout in the third round to lift the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday at Verizon Center. After the first four shooters came up empty, Backstrom skated in and rifled a wrister from between the circles past the glove-side of Josh Harding. Braden Holtby, who finished with 33 saves, then turned away Charlie Coyle to send the Capitals to their fourth straight win. Alex Ovechkin scored his 13th goal of the season to open the scoring, while Marcus Johansson netted the equalizer with 3:08 left in regulation to force the extra session. Coyle and Mikael Granlund each scored once for the Wild, who had won six of their last seven games coming into the contest. Harding finished with 25 saves in the setback.

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – Justin Peters stopped all 21 shots he faced in net to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 1-0 victory over the New York Islanders at PNC Arena. Peters earned his first shutout and second win of the season since taking the place of injured starter Cam Ward. The lone goal of the game came early in the first period, when Ron Hainsey took a shot from the point that Radek Dvorak deflected past Kevin Poulin. Carolina has now beaten the Islanders in five straight meetings. Poulin stopped 23- of-24 shots for New York, which has lost two in a row.

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Carl Hagelin scored a pair of goals to back a 32-save effort from Cam Talbot as the resurgent New York Rangers posted a 4-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Ryan Callahan and Ryan McDonagh each contributed a goal and assist to help the Rangers climb back to .500 with their fifth win in six games. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 30- of-33 shots in the loss, the season-high fifth in a row for the skidding Blue Jackets. Fedor Tyutin and Ryan Murray accounted for the Columbus goals. The game marked the first meeting between the new Metropolitan division rivals since the teams conducted two major trades with one another. Columbus received forwards Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov from New York for currently injured sniper Rick Nash in July of 2012, while the Rangers shipped star wing Marian Gaborik to the Jackets for Derick Brassard, Derek Dorsett and John Moore during last April’s deadline.

Dallas had tied the game with 70 seconds left in regulation on Cody Eakin’s power-play goal, and won it with time winding down in the extra session when Peverley skated from the left boards to the top of the circle, where he fired a wrister that beat a screened Jimmy Howard. Shawn Horcoff and Jamie Benn also scored for the Stars, who went 3-0-0 on their road trip. Kari Lehtonen made 26 stops in the win. Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi each posted a goal and an assist while Henrik Zetterberg added three assists for the Red Wings, who have dropped their past two. Howard stopped 24 shots.

Stamkos’ 12th and 13th markers of the season supported a 38-save performance by Ben Bishop that helped the Lightning to a third straight win and sixth triumph in seven outings. The All-Star center is riding a five-game goal scoring streak and has recorded a point in seven consecutive contests. Tyler Johnson and Valtteri Filppula also had goals for Tampa Bay, which improved to 7-2-0 at home as well. Taylor Hall returned from a knee injury to register one of Edmonton’s two tallies, with Taylor Fedun accounting for the other. Devan Dubnyk stopped 22-of-25 shots in the loss, the Oilers sixth in seven games.

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Alexander Steen’s league-leading 14th goal of the season came early in the second period and served as the game-winner on Thursday, as the St. Louis Blues held off the Calgary Flames, 3-2, at Scot trade Center. Steen’s marker staked St. Louis to a 3-0 lead 5:55 into the second, but Calgary countered with a pair of goals in the third to pull within one. The Flames then had a brief two-man advantage late in the frame after Vladimir Sobotka was whistled for a face-off violation and Reto Berra left the Calgary net in favor of the extra attacker, but Brian Elliott stood tall between the pipes down the stretch to send St. Louis to its fifth victory in six tries. Maxim Lapierre and Vladimir Tarasenko each scored once for the Blues, who received 18 saves from Elliott. Mike Cammalleri and Tim Jackman netted the Calgary goals, while Berra allowed all three goals on 27 shots for the Flames, who have lost two straight and four of their last five games.
