New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Henrik Lundqvist made 28 stops and five different players lit the lamp as the New York Rangers shut down the Pittsburgh Penguins, 5-1, at Madison Square Garden in the first of four meetings between these division rivals. Ryan McDonagh, Derek Stepan, Brian Boyle, Ryan Callahan and Derick Brassard created offense for the Rangers, who have won four of their last five thanks to tying a season high for goals in one contest. Brad Richards added a pair of assists as the Blueshirts topped their Wednesday foes for the second time in their last three matchups. Kris Letang registered the lone goal for the Penguins, who were turned away from their chance at a fifth straight win. Marc-Andre Fleury allowed all five scores on 25 shots.

Final Score: Chicago 4, Winnipeg 1

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Patrick Sharp had a goal and an assist in the Chicago Blackhawks’ 4-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Brandon Pirri also scored for the Blackhawks, who improved to 6-1-3 at home this season. Final Score: Nashville 6, Colorado 4

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – Colorado had the home crowd on its side and a second six-game win streak of the season in its pocket Wednesday, bidding for the second 13-1-0 start in NHL history. One problem: Nashville came into Pepsi Center revved up for the third edition of a seven-game road trip. Thanks to a two-goal, two-assist effort by Colin Wilson, the Predators claimed a 6-4 victory over the Avalanche. Though Matt Duchene — who recorded the 13th three-point game of his career — tied the game early in the third, Wilson’s second goal of the contest put the visitors ahead to stay and Gabriel Bourque added a late tally to seal the victory. Paul Gaustad, Craig Smith and Viktor Stalberg also lit the lamp for the Predators, who have won two in a row on their current sojourn. Carter Hutton improved to 4-1-1 this season after a 27-save performance. PA Parenteau, Ryan O’Reilly and Paul Stastny provided additional offense for the Avalanche, who suffered the same fate as their 1995 Nordiques counterparts that began 12-1-0 before losing in their 14th game. Semyon Varlamov yielded five scores on 27 shots in defeat. The Ottawa Senators remain the sole franchise to start a season with 13 wins in their first 14 games, having done so in 2007-08.

Final Score: Anaheim 5, Phoenix 2

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Hampus Lindholm, Ryan Getzlaf and Cam Fowler each had a goal and an assist as the Anaheim Ducks stayed perfect at home with a 5-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday. Corey Perry and Andrew Cogliano also lit the lamp for Anaheim, which improved to 6-0-0 at home this season. Jonas Hiller made 24 saves. The Ducks have outscored their opponents 26-10 at home this season and are on their longest winning streak as the hosting club since a club-record 13-game streak from Jan. 26-March 20 of last season. Michael Stone and Shane Doan scored for the Coyotes, who had a five-game winning streak snapped. Mike Smith stopped 24-of-28 shots in defeat.
