Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) – Corey Crawford made 26 saves and the Chicago Blackhawks rode an offensive barrage to a 5-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre. The Blackhawks scored five unanswered goals, including three in a 4:55 span early in the second period to chase Winnipeg goaltender Ondrej Pavelec. Nick Leddy and Brandon Bollig both tallied once and picked up an assist for Chicago, which has won three consecutive games. Tobias Enstrom had the lone goal in the Jets’ third straight loss. They have dropped six of seven overall. Al Montoya stopped 10 shots in relief of Pavelec and received help from the crossbar on Patrick Kane’s third-period penalty shot.

Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Corey Perry and Emerson Etem both scored two goals in the Anaheim Ducks’ 6-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Ryan Getzlaf added a goal and two assists and Sami Vatanen also scored for the Ducks, winners in four of their last five games. Jonas Hiller made 14 saves in the win. Cody Hodgson, Henrik Tallinder and Tyler Myers scored one goal apiece for the Sabres, who have fallen to 0-8-1 at home this season. Jhonas Enroth allowed all six goals on 29 shots.

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Alex Killorn registered a goal and two assists as the Tampa Bay Lightning doubled up the visiting St. Louis Blues 4-2. Brett Connolly, recalled from Syracuse of the American Hockey League on Thursday, broke a 2-2 tie in the third period. He tipped a Radko Gudas shot behind St. Louis goaltender Jaroslav Halak at 8:37, three seconds after a hooking penalty on the Blues’ Vladimir Sobotka had expired. Valtteri Filppula then scored on a backhand that deflected in off St. Louis defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk with 3:59 remaining. Steven Stamkos had the other goal for Tampa Bay, which has won two straight and five of its last six games overall. Ben Bishop made 28 saves to improve to 9-2-0 this season. Alex Pietrangelo and Jaden Schwartz both scored for the Blues, who were dealt just their second regulation loss (8-2-2). Halak stopped 21 shots.

Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) – Ray Emery stopped all 14 shots he faced and Philadelphia nipped New Jersey, 1-0, at Prudential Center. Brayden Schenn recorded the lone goal for the Flyers, who allowed a season-low in shots and improved to 4-9-0 this season. Emery stepped in for his third start of the season, and in picking up his first win of the year, helped Philly erase the memory of a franchise-worst 7-0 home loss to the Capitals on Friday — one in which Emery accumulated 29 penalty minutes for pummeling opposing goaltender Braden Holtby in a third-period brawl. It was all business on Saturday, however, as the 31-year-old netminder recorded his 15th career whitewash. Martin Brodeur made 20 saves in defeat for the Devils, who had won two games in a row.

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Thomas Vanek scored his first goal as an Islander and added an assist in New York’s 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins in a battle of backup goaltenders at Nassau Coliseum. Kevin Poulin, who had given up seven goals in his first two starts this season, only allowed one on 27 shots Saturday to earn the win. John Tavares and Andrew MacDonald lit the lamp for the Islanders, who have won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Dougie Hamilton scored Boston’s lone goal, while Chad Johnson, in his second start between the pipes this season, made 31 saves in defeat.

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Derek Stepan broke out of a scoring drought by netting his first three goals of the season, and the New York Rangers continued their recent dominance of the Carolina Hurricanes with a 5-1 win at Madison Square Garden. Carl Hagelin added a pair of goals to support Stepan’s second career hat trick, while Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 27- of-28 shots in the victory, the Rangers’ third straight and ninth in a row over the struggling Hurricanes. Chris Kreider and Mats Zuccarello each recorded three assists in the rout. Carolina was dealt its fifth consecutive regulation defeat and has managed just five goals during the skid. Andrej Sekera had the Hurricanes’ lone marker, with Justin Peters registering 33 saves in the loss.

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Mikhail Grabovski, Brooks Laich and Nicklas Backstrom scored shootout goals to lead the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday. The Capitals led 2-1 late in regulation, but Florida capitalized on a 4-on-3 power-play when Tomas Fleischmann beat Michal Neuvirth to force overtime. Neuvirth stopped 31-of-33 shots he faced in the victory and made a difficult glove save in the shootout on Jonathan Huberdeau, allowing Backstrom to wrist the game-winner past Scott Clemmensen. Backstrom and John Carlson scored in regulation for the Caps, who were coming off a 7-0 rout of the Flyers on Friday. Jesse Winchester scored Florida’s first goal, while Clemmensen made 21 saves in defeat.

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Jeff Zatkoff pitched a shutout for his first career win to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 3-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets in the back end of a home-and-home set Saturday. The 26-year-old Zatkoff, playing in just his third game, stopped 19 shots to help the Penguins beat the Jackets for the second time in as many nights as the team took a 4-2 win in Pittsburgh on Friday. Deryk Engelland, Chris Kunitz and Jussi Jokinen all lit the lamp for Pittsburgh, which has won four straight following a three-game losing streak. Curtis McElhinney gave up two goals on 26 shots for the Blue Jackets, who have dropped their past three.

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) – Roberto Luongo made 21 saves for his 64th career shutout and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 11th straight time, rolling to a 4-0 win Saturday night. The Canucks peppered James Reimer with 47 shots in a game that ended more than three hours after its scheduled start time. It was delayed by a ceremony to retire Pavel Bure’s number and groaned along through 94 combined penalty minutes. Daniel Sedin, Zack Kassian, Chris Higgins and Dan Hamhuis had the goals and Luongo, facing just 10 shots in the last two periods, picked up his second shutout of the season. Reimer faced 18 shots in the first period, 12 in the second and 17 in the third. The Maple Leafs, who had a three-game winning streak snapped, haven’t beaten the Canucks since winning both ends of a home-and-home Nov. 22 and 24, 2003. Vancouver went 2-1 on a three-game homestand, bouncing back from a loss to Detroit on Thursday and winning its first game since signing Henrik and Daniel Sedin to four-year, $28 million contract extensions.

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – Jean-Sebastien Giguere posted 29 saves as the Colorado Avalanche gave head coach Patrick Roy a 4-1 win against his old team the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. Gabriel Landeskog had a goal and an assist while PA Parenteau, Nathan MacKinnon and Ryan O’Reilly all lit the lamp for the Avalanche, who have won six straight after suffering their only loss of the season on Oct. 17 against Detroit. Roy had spent his first 10- plus seasons with Montreal, which drafted him in the third round of the 1984 draft. He won a pair of Conn Smythe trophies and Stanley Cups while with Montreal before being traded to Colorado in December of 1995, winning a pair of Stanley Cups with the Avalanche and an NHL-record third Conn Smythe trophy. Peter Budaj gave up three goals on 30 shots while Brendan Gallagher had the only goal of the game for the Canadiens, who have dropped their past two games.

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Petr Mrazek earned his first NHL shutout and the Detroit Red Wings continued their long streak of success against the Edmonton Oilers with a 5-0 win Saturday night. Mrazek, in his third NHL game and first this season, faced only 14 shots and the Red Wings got goals from five different players to earn at least a point against the Oilers for the 14th straight game (12-0-2). They are 8-0-5 in Edmonton since their last regulation loss in the city on Oct. 21, 2006. Everyone seems to enjoy playing in Edmonton these days. The Oilers, just 1-5 at home this season, have been outscored 17-2 in their last four games at Rexall Place. They have lost five in a row overall for the second time this season already. The Red Wings won their third in a row, improving to 3-0 on a four-game road trip that came on the heels of a four-game losing streak. Darren Helm, Tomas Tatar, Jakub Kindl, Joakim Andersson and Todd Bertuzzi had the goals. Edmonton goalie Richard Bachman suffered an injured groin in the first period after allowing two goals on nine shots. Jason LaBarbera gave up three goals on 22 shots.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – David Legwand lit the lamp twice, including the deciding goal with 3:56 remaining in regulation to send the Nashville Predators past the Los Angeles Kings, 4-3, at Staples Center. Dustin Brown and Mike Richards each scored in the third period to draw the Kings even, but with time winding down Legwand won a faceoff in the offensive zone and cleaned up Mattias Ekholm’s shot from the point. Carter Hutton made the lead hold up, finishing with 35 saves to snap Nashville’s two-game losing streak. Eric Nystrom and Shea Weber both got the best of Jonathan Quick, who faced only 17 shots and yielded four goals to take the loss. Anze Kopitar recorded a goal and an assist for the Kings, who had won three of four coming in.

San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Antoine Vermette scored the game-winner in the shootout to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. Vermette, who also had a goal in regulation, looped to the left before cutting back across the front of the net and sneaking the puck past Sharks goalie Antti Niemi. Mikkel Boedker also scored for the Coyotes, winners in four straight and six of their last seven tilts overall. Mike Smith made 48 saves in the win. Joe Pavelski and Dan Boyle scored one goal apiece for the Sharks, losers in two straight for the first time this season. Boyle had missed the past six games after suffering a concussion on Oct. 15.
