Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Casey Cizikas scored the game-winning goal on a power play in the third period as the New York Islanders defeated the Ottawa Senators, 2-1, on Wednesday. Josh Bailey scored his eighth of the season and added an assist while Ryan Strome had two helpers. Anders Nilsson made 35 saves for the Islanders, who have won three straight and have picked up a point in each of their past six games. Milan Michalek supplied Ottawa’s lone goal. Craig Anderson turned aside 25 shots as Ottawa’s three-game winning streak came to an end. The Senators remain five points behind the inactive Columbus Blue Jackets for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) – Tomas Jurco tied the game and Gustav Nyquist won it with goals 1:42 apart in the latter stages of the third period, as Detroit downed Boston, 3-2 at Joe Louis Arena, ending the Bruins’ nine-game road win streak. Tomas Tatar added a second-period goal and Jimmy Howard came up with 33 saves for the Red Wings, winners of three in a row and six of their last nine. Detroit moved three points ahead of idle Columbus for the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. Johnny Boychuk and Carl Soderberg tallied for the Bruins, who suffered their first regulation loss since March 1 against Washington. Tuukka Rask stopped only 17 pucks in defeat.

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Anaheim Ducks pulled off another comeback on Wednesday night. Francois Beauchemin played hero this time around as the Ducks scored three times in the third period to beat the Edmonton Oilers by a 3-2 margin. The Ducks trailed the Winnipeg Jets by a 4-0 score late in the second period Monday night, but rallied to force overtime and won the game on Stephane Robidas’ goal 16 seconds into the extra session. It was the greatest comeback in franchise history. Corey Perry scored twice before setting up Beauchemin’s one-timer from the top of the left circle with 1:21 to play. Beauchemin’s game-winner gave Anaheim a three- point lead over the idle San Jose Sharks for first place in the Pacific Division. Frederik Andersen stopped 30-of-32 shots for the Ducks, who have won three in a row.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Jonathan Quick made 17 saves for his sixth shutout of the season and the Los Angeles Kings clinched a playoff berth for the fifth straight season with a 4-0 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday. Jeff Carter, Anze Kopitar and Tanner Pearson each had a goal and one assist and Drew Doughty also scored for the Kings, who were coming off Monday’s 3-2 loss at home to Minnesota, which snapped a six-game winning streak. They are 15-4-0 in their last 19 games and clinched at least third place in the Pacific Division to make the playoffs. Thomas Greiss, in net again for injured Coyotes starter Mike Smith, gave up four goals on 32 shots.
