New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan McDonagh scored on a rebound 1:56 into overtime and the New York Rangers pushed their winning streak to four games in a 4-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday. The Rangers tied the game and won it against backup Coyotes goaltender Thomas Greiss after starter Mike Smith was injured late in the third period. McDonagh was all alone in front of Greiss for a rebound off Dan Girardi’s slap shot from above the right circle. Girardi had tied the game with 3:28 left in regulation when he deflected McDonagh’s point shot. The victory came after the Rangers celebrated Henrik Lundqvist setting the franchise wins record. It moved them one point ahead of Philadelphia for fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Brad Richards and Derick Brassard also scored for New York and Lundqvist made 18 saves. Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Jeff Halpern and Kyle Chipchura scored for the Coyotes, who have lost two in a row for the first time since a four-game slide that spanned the Olympic break. The Coyotes, clinging to the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference, lost Smith after Brassard fell on top of his legs in the crease. The team did not have any immediate information on the extent of his injury. Smith had 25 saves and Greiss stopped seven of the nine shots he faced.

Final Score: Los Angeles 3, Philadelphia 2

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Dwight King scored the winning goal halfway through the third period as the Los Angeles Kings defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2, at Wells Fargo Center. Jeff Carter and Justin Williams scored for the Kings, who have won their third straight game. Jonathan Quick stopped 30 shots in the win. Matt Read and Jakub Voracek had goals in the third period for the Flyers, who finished a four-game homestand against Western Conference teams with a mark of 3-1-0. Ray Emery turned away 38 shots in the loss.

Final Score: Montreal 2, Boston 1 (SO)

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Alex Galchenyuk scored the only goal in a four-round shootout and the Montreal Canadiens snapped Boston’s longest winning streak in 43 years. Galchenyuk’s forehand beat Tuukka Rask over the right pad to give Montreal the 2-1 win on Monday night, ending the Bruins’ streak at 12 games — two win shy of a franchise record. The Canadiens led most of the game after Alexei Emelin’s goal 6:39 into the first period but Patrice Bergeron tied it for Boston with 5:26 remaining in regulation on a deflected shot. Peter Budaj made 28 saves in regulation and overtime and stopped Bergeron, Jarome Iginla, Brad Marchand and David Krejci in the shootout to help Montreal win for the fifth time in six games and move one point ahead of Tampa Bay for third place in the Eastern Conference. The East- leading Bruins, who have already clinched a playoff spot, got their 104th point to break a tie with idle St. louis for the NHL lead. They hadn’t lost since March 1 and were two wins shy of tying the longest run in team history set between Dec. 3, 1929 and Jan. 9, 1930. Rask made 21 saves — stopping all 17 shots he faced between the second period and overtime.

Final Score: Ottawa 4, Tampa Bay 3 (SO)

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Jason Spezza scored the lone goal in the shootout as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-3, on Monday. Spezza, Ottawa’s second shooter, entered the zone and moved the puck back and forth several times before releasing a wrister that fooled Lightning netminder Ben Bishop and found twine in the top right corner. Erik Karlsson, Kyle Turris, and Spezza all scored for Ottawa in regulation, while Robin Lehner made 35 saves and stopped all three shooters in the shootout to snap a six-game skid. Nikita Kucherov, Victor Hedman, and Steven Stamkos all tallied goals for the Lightning, who picked up a point in the standings for the ninth straight game, winning five of those games. Bishop stopped 29- of-32 shots in defeat.

Final Score: Dallas 2, Winnipeg 1

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Tyler Seguin’s power-play goal in the second period proved to be the game-winner as the Dallas Stars held on to defeat the Winnipeg Jets, 2-1, on Monday. Ray Whitney also scored on the power play and Jamie Benn supplied two assists in the Stars’ second straight win. Kari Lehtonen turned aside 32-of-33 shots in the win. Bryan Little contributed Winnipeg’s lone goal on the power play. Al Montoya made 25 saves for the Jets, who have dropped three of their last four.

Final Score: Calgary 2, San Jose 1 (SO)

Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Mike Cammalleri scored in the third round of the shootout to help the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday. Cammalleri skated in on Calgary’s final attempt and blew a wrister past Alex Stalock before Karri Ramo sealed the win with a stop on James Sheppard. Despite the loss, though, San Jose clinched a playoff spot for the 10th straight season with the point. Joe Colborne had the only goal of regulation for the Flames, who have won five of their last seven. Ramo stopped 33 shots in the win. Sheppard scored for the Sharks, who have dropped three of four.
