Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan Miller remained undefeated with St. Louis, making 26 saves to backstop the Blues to a 2-1 win over Colorado in a Central Division showdown at Pepsi Center. David Backes and Patrik Berglund each scored for the Blues, who improved to 4-0 with Miller between the pipes following the trade from Buffalo. Division-leading St. Louis moved five points ahead of the Avalanche in the standings. Colorado is one point behind second-place Chicago. Semyon Varlamov was sharp in defeat, stopping 23 shots, but Colorado had its winning streak snapped at four games.

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Joffrey Lupul scored the game-winning goal as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime, 4-3, at Air Canada Centre. Carl Gunnarsson worked the puck from the point down low to Dion Phaneuf. He took the puck and dished it past Nicklas Grossmann over to Lupul at the other side of the net and he beat a sliding Steve Mason for the game-winner. Mason Raymond, Nazem Kadri, and Jake Gardiner also lit the lamp in the win. Troy Bodie supplied two helpers and Jonathan Bernier made 28 stops in Toronto’s second straight overtime win. Kimmo Timonen scored twice and Braydon Coburn tallied a late third-period goal to send the game into overtime. Jakub Voracek had two assists and Mason made 32 saves for the Flyers, who won three straight entering the contest.

Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Reilly Smith scored in the seventh-round of the shootout to lift the Boston Bruins to a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. After Richard Panik hit the right post, Smith skated in and used a head fake before drawing the puck to his backhand, then sneaking in the forehand for the win. Johnny Boychuk and Carl Soderberg each posted a goal and an assist, while Daniel Paille also scored for the Bruins, who have won four straight. Tuukka Rask made 17 saves and stopped all seven skaters he faced in the shootout. Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Karl Alzner broke open the dam and Brooks Laich and Troy Brouwer followed him through. The Washington Capitals, after going nearly the length of two games without a goal, got three in a five- minute flurry in the third period Saturday to beat the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2. Brouwer scored the winner on a power play with 5:13 remaining. Earlier, Alzner scored 9:45 into the third period to end a goalless drought of 115 minutes and 45 seconds, and Laich tied the game at 2-2 just 32 seconds later. The rally gave goaltender Jaroslav Halak a win in his Capitals debut. Halak, who was dealt from St. Louis to Buffalo in the Ryan Miller deal and then moved to Washington at the trade deadline, made 31 saves, including 10 in the third period to help Washington snap a three-game losing streak. Brandon McMillan and Radim Vrbata scored for the Coyotes, who had won two in a row since a four-game losing streak. They have now dropped five in a row on the road (0-3-2). Mike Smith made 30 saves, but allowed three goals on 14 shots in the third period.

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves and Artem Anisimov tallied the game’s lone goal as the Columbus Blue Jackets shut out the Nashville Predators, 1-0, on Saturday. Anisimov entered the neutral zone on the rush and dropped a pass back to James Wisniewski. The defenseman quickly pushed the puck back up to Anisimov, who rushed in on net with a power move and backhanded a shot past Nashville netminder Pekka Rinne. Corey Tropp and Wisniewski picked up the helpers on Anisimov’s 19th of the season that set a new career-high for the forward and gave the Blue Jackets their fourth win in their past five games. Rinne turned aside 35 shots, but received no offensive support as the Predators dropped their fourth straight game and seventh of their last eight contests.

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) – Eddie Lack turned aside 22-of-23 shots to help lift the Vancouver Canucks to a much-needed win, a 2-1 decision over the Calgary Flames at Rogers Arena. Yannick Weber’s goal five minutes into the third period was the difference in only Vancouver’s second victory since Jan. 26. The spiraling Canucks entered the matchup — the first between the clubs since a Jan. 18 clash marred by all-out brawl right after the opening faceoff that led to eight ejections — having gone 1-10-1 in their last 12 games. Darren Archibald got Vancouver on the board with 5:45 left in the second period with his first career NHL goal. Brian McGrattan scored for Calgary and Joni Ortio came up with 12 saves in the loss, the Flames’ sixth in a row to the Canucks.

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Erik Cole scored the winner with 4:49 to play as the Dallas Stars took a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild in a thriller from American Airlines Center. Tyler Seguin tied the game earlier in the third period and added two assists, while Alex Chiasson and Jamie Benn also scored for the Stars, who have won three of four. Kari Lehtonen started the game in net for the Stars, but left at 6:37 of the third period after being injured when he was slammed into by the Wild’s Erik Haula. Tim Thomas, acquired by Dallas from Florida at the trade deadline, came in relief and stopped all six shots he faced to win his debut with the team. In a pregame ceremony, Dallas retired the No. 9 jersey worn by Mike Modano, who is the franchise leader in many offensive categories and the all-time leader among U.S.-born players in goals and points. Peter Budaj gave up two goals on 11 shots before being pulled early in the second period for the Canadiens, who have dropped three of four.
