New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Tyler Bozak scored the game-winner with 3:09 left in overtime, as the Toronto Maple Leafs spoiled Martin St. Louis’ New York Rangers debut with a 3-2 win on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden. Bozak, who opened the scoring with a successful penalty shot in the second, accepted a blind backhand feed from Phil Kessel behind the net and elevated the disc over Henrik Lundqvist from the doorstep to send the Leafs to their first victory since the Olympic break. Nazem Kadri netted Toronto’s other goal, while Jonathan Bernier registered 35 saves for the Leafs, who leapfrogged the idle Tampa Bay Lightning for third place in the Atlantic Division. Though they were idle on the schedule, the Lightning played a major role in Wednesday’s trade deadline, sending St. Louis, their leading scorer, to New York in exchange for Rangers captain Ryan Callahan, a first-round draft pick in 2015 and a conditional second-round choice in 2014. St. Louis finished with three shots in just over 20 minutes of ice time in his Broadway debut, while Ryan McDonagh and Dominic Moore each registered a short-handed goal for New York, which has lost three straight games. Lundqvist allowed all three goals on 29 shots in defeat.

Final Score: Philadelphia 6, Washington 4

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek each scored twice, as the Philadelphia Flyers held off the Washington Capitals, 6-4, in the finale of a home-and-home set on Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia led 4-0 with just over eight minutes left in the second thanks to a pair of goals from Giroux and one each from Voracek and Adam Hall, but the Capitals countered with three straight markers to move within 4-3 midway through the third. However, Voracek scored his second of the night shortly after, and despite Brooks Laich potting a power-play goal with six minutes left to get the Caps within one, the Flyers were able to hold on down the stretch. Steve Downie added an empty-netter to account for the final margin, while Steve Mason made 21 saves for Philadelphia, which has won three straight and seven of its last eight games. Alex Ovechkin collected a goal and an assist, while Troy Brouwer and Joel Ward also lit the lamp for the Capitals, who had won four straight before dropping a 5-4 overtime decision to the Flyers on Sunday. Braden Holtby allowed four goals on 18 shots before being removed midway through the second period. Philipp Grubauer stopped 10-of-11 shots in relief.

Final Score: Calgary 4, Ottawa 1

Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Joni Ortio made 30 saves for his first NHL win and the Calgary Flames beat the Ottawa Senators 4-1 on Wednesday night. Ortio, making his second NHL start, had his shutout bid spoiled with 9:36 remaining when Kyle Turris sticked around him on the low right side after picking up a loose puck in the slot. Markus Granlund scored his first NHL goal and Paul Byron, Joe Colborne and Mike Cammalleri also found the net for the Flames, who won for the second time in three games. Craig Anderson gave up four goals on 28 shots for the Senators, who have lost four of their last five.

Final Score: Montreal 4, Anaheim 3 (SO)

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Andrei Markov scored the game-winner in the sixth round of the shootout, as the Montreal Canadiens claimed a 4-3 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday at Honda Center. With the shootout tied 2-2 in the fifth round, Anaheim’s Kyle Palmieri ripped a shot from the inner half of the right circle that hit the far post and then the near post before trickling across the goal line and being swept away by Montreal netminder Dustin Tokarski. Palmieri’s shot was originally ruled a goal, but video review showed the puck never completely crossed the goal line. After the next two shooters came up empty, Markov wristed the puck through Jonas Hiller’s five-hole from the slot to send Montreal to its third victory in four tries. Brendan Gallagher registered a goal and an assist, while Max Pacioretty and Brian Gionta also scored for the Canadiens, who made a splash earlier Wednesday by acquiring sniper Thomas Vanek from the New York Islanders. Tokarski, making his first NHL start since 2012, made 39 saves to backstop the victory. Tim Jackman, Francois Beauchemin, and Daniel Winnik scored for the Ducks, who had won three straight. Hiller posted 28 saves in defeat.
