Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – David Krejci posted his third career hat trick to help the Boston Bruins take a 4-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. Jarome Iginla had the other goal for the Bruins, who have won two straight after dropping their first two games out of the Olympic break. Chad Johnson stopped 23 shots in the win. Tim Thomas stopped 35-of-38 shots while Brian Campbell scored the only goal for the Panthers, who have dropped five of their last six games. Before the game, the Panthers brought back goaltender Roberto Luongo in a trade with Vancouver, as the team got back its winningest goaltender in franchise history for goalie Jacob Markstrom and forward Shawn Matthias, with Vancouver also sending forward prospect Steven Anthony to the Panthers. The Canucks are also expected to cover a portion of Luongo’s remaining contract as part of the swap.
Final Score: New Jersey 4, Detroit 3
Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) – If this was indeed Martin Brodeur’s final game as a New Jersey Devil, he’ll be going out a winner. Stephen Gionta’s goal with 36.6 seconds remaining in regulation enabled New Jersey to come through with a 4-3 decision over the Detroit Red Wings at Prudential Center, the 684th — and possibly last — victory for Brodeur in a Devils’ uniform. Rumors swirled prior to the game that Brodeur, who has spent his entire 21-year career with the Devils, would be willing to waive his no- trade clause prior to Wednesday’s deadline. The 41-year-old has been relegated to a part- time role behind Cory Schneider in recent weeks. Brodeur, who received a rousing ovation from the home crowd during pregame introductions, came up with 20 saves, and the Devils overcame a 2-1 deficit after two periods on goals by Marek Zidlicky, Travis Zajac and Gionta. Adam Henrique scored in the opening minute in New Jersey’s third triumph in four games. Johan Franzen continued his recent hot streak for Detroit, notching a goal and an assist in the loss. Brendan Smith and Todd Bertuzzi also tallied for the Red Wings, while Jimmy Howard finished with 25 saves.
Final Score: Columbus 4, Dallas 2
Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Artem Anisimov scored twice and Sergei Bobrovsky made 31 saves to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Anisimov scored to cap a three-goal first period for the Blue Jackets and found the net again with 4:07 left in the game after the Stars had climbed within 3-2 with two goals in the first 3:22 of the third period. Boone Jenner and R.J. Umberger also had goals for the Blue Jackets, who have won three in a row. They were fresh off a 2-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Monday. Dallas was also playing the tail end of a back-to-back, having beaten Buffalo 3-2 on Monday. Earlier Tuesday, the Stars traded veteran defenseman Stephane Robidas to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a conditional 2014 fourth-round draft pick. Alex Goligoski and Trevor Daley scored in Dallas’ first road game since Feb. 5 and Dan Ellis gave up four goals on 20 shots, including three on nine shots in the first period.

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Tyson Barrie, Ryan O’Reilly and Paul Stastny scored third-period goals to support a 36-save effort from Semyon Varlamov that carried the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center. Maxime Talbot also tallied and Erik Johnson notched three assists in Colorado’s third straight win. Barrie and O’Reilly also recorded assists during the Avalanche’s final-period outburst. Final Score: St. Louis 4, Tampa Bay 2
St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Alexander Steen scored the game-winner 3:47 into the third period to make Ryan Miller’s home debut a successful one, as the St. Louis Blues edged the Tampa Bay Lightning, 4-2, on Tuesday at Scottrade Center. St. Louis trailed 2-0 after a shaky first period from Miller, but the Blues battled back with goals from Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie in the second before Steen found the back of the net early in the third to give the home team their first and only lead of the game. Vladimir Tarasenko tacked on an empty-netter, while Miller made 15 saves to notch his second straight victory with St. Louis, which acquired the 33-year- old goaltender, along with forward Steve Ott, from the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Matt Niskanen scored the winning goal in the third period as the Pittsburgh Penguins skated to a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Niskanen also scored early in the second period, Chris Kunitz had a goal late in the third, while Sidney Crosby supplied assists on all three goals for the Penguins, who snapped a season high-tying three-game losing streak. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 18 shots for the win. Patric Hornqvist had the lone goal of the game for the Predators, who have dropped five of their last six games. Final Score: NY Islanders 3, Winnipeg 2 (OT)
Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) – Michael Grabner split two defenders on a mad rush to the net in overtime and went top shelf to send the New York Islanders past the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 on Tuesday. Cal Clutterbuck stickhandled through his own zone and sent a lead pass to a hard-charging Grabner in the neutral zone. Grabner put his head down and raced past two flat-footed Jets defenders, then beat Ondrej Pavelec with a forehand with 69 seconds left in the extra session. Colin McDonald and Anders Lee each scored in regulation for New York, while Anders Nilsson made 36 saves in the victory, the club’s third in the past 12 games. Pavelec stopped 24 shots for the Jets, who had a two-game winning streak snapped despite Andrew Ladd’s two goals. New York shipped defenseman Andrew MacDonald to the Flyers hours before the game and sat a healthy Thomas Vanek, presumably in anticipation of another deal before Wednesday’s trade deadline.
Final Score: Phoenix 1, Vancouver 0
Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Antoine Vermette scored the game’s only goal in the first period and Mike Smith posted a 23-save shutout, as the Phoenix Coyotes snapped a four-game slide with a 1-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday at Jobing.com Arena. Vermette’s 22nd of the season provided Smith with the only support he would need, as the 31-year-old netminder turned aside 11 shots in the final frame to secure his third shutout of the season and 27th of his career. Eddie Lack stopped 31-of-32 shots for the Canucks, who kicked off a potential fire sale at the NHL trade deadline by dealing three-time All-Star goaltender Roberto Luongo to the Florida Panthers prior to Tuesday’s tilt. Vancouver forward Daniel Sedin missed the game with a lower-body injury and general manager Mike Gillis said on Tuesday that he is out indefinitely.
Final Score: Edmonton 3, Ottawa 2
Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Ales Hemsky, a common name in trade rumors prior to Wednesday’s deadline, scored twice and the Edmonton Oilers edged the Senators 3-2 for their first win over Ottawa at Rexall Place in nearly 10 years. The downtrodden Oilers made a few trades before the game, dealing goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov to the Wild in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick and acquiring goaltender Viktor Fasth from the Ducks for a pair of picks. The moves came a day after the club inked Ben Scrivens to a two-year contract extension, and Scrivens delivered early returns with a 34-save performance. Jordan Eberle notched the eventual game-winner for Edmonton, which snapped a three-game skid. Craig Anderson, who backstopped Ottawa to a win in the Heritage Classic at BC Place on Sunday, gave up three goals on 30 shots to take the loss. Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson both scored for the Senators, the latter going coast-to-coast through four defenders prior to wristing one that trickled across the goal line with 2:55 remaining in regulation.
