Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – Vinny Lecavalier scored the winner 2:45 into overtime as the Philadelphia Flyers rallied to take a 5-4 win over the Washington Capitals. Kimmo Timonen brought the puck in down the middle and dished it over to his left for Lecavalier, who let fly with a wrister that tipped off a Capital and sailed into the net. Claude Giroux scored twice and added an assist, while Jakub Voracek posted a goal and two assists for the Flyers, who took a pair of wins over the weekend against divisional opponents as the team grabbed a 4-2 victory against the Rangers on Saturday. Adam Hall added a shorthanded goal, while Steve Mason posted 25 saves in the victory. Dmitry Orlov scored twice, but took a boarding major in the third period that helped Philly get back into the game. Jay Beagle and Marcus Johansson also scored, and Braden Holtby gave up all five goals on 36 shots for the Capitals, who had a four-game winning streak stopped. This was the opener of a home-and-home set as the two clubs will meet in Philly on Wednesday.

Raffi Torres, Logan Couture and Matt Nieto also scored for the Sharks, who have won four of their last five games. Alex Stalock turned away 21 shots in the win. Adam Henrique and Patrik Elias scored for the Devils, who had won their previous two. Cory Schneider allowed all four goals on 22 shots.

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – The Florida Panthers stopped a four-game losing streak with a four-goal outburst in the third period. Scottie Upshall scored two of the goals, including the go-ahead tally, and the Panthers rallied to beat the New York Islanders 5-3 on Sunday for their first post- Olympic break win. Shawn Matthias also scored and Marcel Goc had the other goal for the Panthers, who had dropped two straight since coming back from the Sochi break. They got only their second win in their last nine games (2-7-0) and snapped a five-game road skid. Tim Thomas made 35 saves for the win, including 11 in a spotless third period. Upshall and Matthias both had an assist in the win. Thomas Vanek had two early goals for the Islanders and Ryan Strome scored in the final minute of the second period to give them a 3-1 lead going into the third.

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Ottawa Senators scored four unanswered goals to beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 Sunday in the 2014 Heritage Classic at BC Place. Clarke MacArthur had a goal and an assist for the Senators, who snapped a two-game skid. Erik Karlsson, Cody Ceci and Colin Greening also lit the lamp. Craig Anderson stopped 29-of-31 shots in the victory. Jason Garrison and Zack Kassian scored for the Canucks, who have dropped two straight. Eddie Lack turned aside 24-of-27 shots.

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Gregory Campbell scored twice, Tuukka Rask made 39 saves and the Boston Bruins doubled up the New York Rangers 6-3 on Sunday. Dougie Hamilton had a goal and two assists and Jarome Iginla and Milan Lucic each had one goal and one helper for the Bruins, who got their first win since the Olympics (1-1-1) to avoid their first three-game losing streak since the last year’s Stanley Cup finals. Carl Soderberg had the other Boston goal and 10 Bruins players had points in the game, including six with at least two. Brad Richards, Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller scored for the Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist allowed six goals on 33 shots. The Bruins swept the season series between the teams for the first time since 1982-83, when they also went 3-0.

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – Nick Holden scored twice during a four-goal third period as the Colorado Avalanche doubled up the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-3 at Pepsi Center. Colorado trailed 3-2 heading into the third period, but Holden tied it 5:12 into the frame and Erik Johnson, who returned to the lineup after serving a two-game suspension, delivered the game-winner at 16:05. Holden and Paul Stastny added empty-netters for the final margin. Tyson Barrie and Ryan O’Reilly also scored for the Avalanche, winners in three of their last four games. Semyon Varlamov turned aside 31-of-34 shots to earn the win. Nate Thompson posted his second multi-goal effort of the season with a pair of second-period markers. Tom Pyatt scored the other goal for Tampa Bay and Ben Bishop allowed four goals on 33 shots.

Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Kevin Shattenkirk scored the go-ahead goal in a four-goal third period as the St. Louis Blues rallied for a win in Ryan Miller’s debut, beating the Phoenix Coyotes 4-2 on Sunday. Miller, acquired in a blockbuster trade Friday, let up a goal in the first three minutes but settled in to make 23 saves for St. Louis. Patrik Berglund had two goals and Magnus Paajarvi also scored for the Blues, who got their first post-Olympics win (1-2-0) after losing the first two games 1-0. Paul Bissonnette and Jeff Halpern scored for the Coyotes, who have lost four in a row, including three since the break (0-2-1). Mike Smith gave up four goals on 30 shots.
