Joel Ward had a goal and an assist and Eric Fehr also scored for the Capitals, who have won four straight. Braden Holtby stopped 36 shots in the win. Patrice Bergeron and Shawn Thornton scored for the Bruins, who have dropped their first two games coming out of the Olympic break. Tuukka Rask gave up all four goals on 31 shots.

Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Jaromir Jagr scored his 700th NHL goal in the New Jersey Devils’ 6-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday. Jagr became the seventh player in NHL history to reach the 700-goal mark, joining Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Brett Hull, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito and Mike Gartner. Adam Henrique, Ryane Clowe, Eric Gelinas, Marek Zidlicky and Jagr each had a goal and an assist for the Devils, who have won two in a row. Mark Fayne also lit the lamp. Martin Brodeur made 18 saves in his first start since a bad performance against the New York Rangers at Yankee Stadium on Jan. 26, when he was pulled after giving up six goals in two periods. Kyle Okposo scored the lone goal for the Islanders, who failed to build off Thursday’s overtime win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 14-of-19 shots before being pulled. Anders Nilsson, who was recalled from Bridgeport (AHL) prior to the game, turned aside 15-of-16 shots in the third period.

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Steve Mason and the Philadelphia Flyers collectively recovered from their most recent game to beat the visiting New York Rangers 4-2 on Saturday. Mason made 33 saves for the Flyers, including a left pad stop on Derek Stepan’s rebound chance that preserved a 3-2 lead. Luke Schenn buried a rebound with 3:45 remaining to give Philadelphia some breathing room. The Flyers stumbled in their return from the Olympic break, allowing five second-period goals in Thursday’s 7-3 home loss to San Jose. But with their fifth win in six games, they closed to within a point of the Rangers for second place in the Metropolitan Division. Henrik Lundqvist, in his first start for New York since helping Sweden to a silver medal in Sochi, was beaten four times on 31 shots. The Rangers lost for only the second time in their last eight games.

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Artem Anisimov’s shorthanded goal late in the second period proved to be the difference, as the Columbus Blue Jackets took a 6-3 win over the Florida Panthers. David Savard had a goal and an assist, while R.J. Umberger and Cam Atkinson also scored for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Sergei Bobrovsky turned away 17 shots while Nick Foligno and Matt Calvert added empty-net goals in the win. Shawn Matthias and Nick Bjugstad each posted a goal and an assist for the Panthers, who have lost their last four. Scott Clemmensen gave up four goals on 35 shots in the loss.

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Ondrej Pavelec turned away 39 shots to backstop the surging Winnipeg Jets to a 3-1 win over the Nashville Predators. Olli Jokinen, Andrew Ladd and Devin Setoguchi each scored for the Jets, who are now 11-3-1 since Paul Maurice took over as head coach. Simon Moser’s first NHL goal summed up the Predators’ offense, while Carter Hutton gave up three goals on 20 shots in defeat. Nashville has dropped four of its last five games.

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Martin St. Louis scored twice to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Saturday. Sami Salo and Nate Thompson also scored for the Lightning, who have won two of their last three. Ben Bishop posted 39 saves in the win. Antoine Roussel and Vernon Fiddler both posted a goal and an assist for the Stars, who had won two straight coming into the game. Kari Lehtonen allowed all four goals on 21 shots.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Alec Martinez scored a go-ahead goal in the third period to help lift the Los Angeles Kings to a 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes at Staples Center. Jonathan Quick turned away 24 Carolina shots as the Kings won their fourth straight game. Anton Khudobin made 28 saves, but the Hurricanes dropped their fourth game in a row, the last three coming on the road. Carolina began a four-day California swing, with stops at Anaheim and San Jose rounding out a five-game trip that has been fruitless thus far.

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) – Max Pacioretty scored with 1:32 to play in overtime as the Montreal Canadiens took a 4-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Toronto goaltender Jonathan Bernier was called for delay of game after coming well out of his crease to cover up the puck at 3:14. After winning the left circle faceoff, Montreal set up for a blast from P.K. Subban in the high slot. He broke his stick on the shot and didn’t get all of the puck. However, it went over to the left side where Andrei Markov centered it for Pacioretty, who lasered a wrister past Bernier for the win. Pacioretty scored twice, P.K. Subban finished with a goal and an assist, while Alex Galchenyuk also scored for the Canadiens, who have won their first two coming out of the Olympic break. Peter Budaj stopped 22 shots in the win. James van Riemsdyk scored twice and Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who have dropped both games since the break. Bernier stopped 26 shots.

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Six days after winning Olympic gold together with Team Canada in Sochi, superstars Sidney Crosby and Jonathan Toews found themselves on opposite ends of a snowy sheet of ice at Solider Field. Squaring off against each other for the first time in the regular season, Toews got the best of his Canadian counterpart in front of the Chicago faithful. Toews tallied twice and added an assist, Corey Crawford stopped 31 shots and the Blackhawks downed Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins, 5-1, on Saturday as part of the NHL’s “Stadium Series.” Patrick Sharp, who also played for Team Canada, picked up a goal and an assist, while Kris Versteeg and Bryan Bickell each lit the lamp once to help the Blackhawks snap a two-game slide. James Neal was credited with the lone Pittsburgh marker, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 35 saves for the Penguins, who have lost three straight.

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Sean Monahan scored Calgary’s only goal in regulation and then potted the game-winner 1:50 into overtime, as the Flames edged the Edmonton Oilers, 2-1, on Saturday at Rexall Place. With the extra session just under two minutes old, Calgary center Paul Byron won a battle along the boards behind the Edmonton net and quickly backhanded the disc to the low right circle for a cutting Monahan, who slid a shot through the five- hole of Ilya Bryzgalov to send the Flames to victory. Reto Berra registered 21 saves for Calgary, which dropped a 2-0 decision to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday in its first game following the Olympic break. David Perron potted the lone Edmonton marker, while Bryzgalov gave up both goals on 30 shots for the Oilers, who have lost three straight games.
