Both clubs have 84 points, but St. Louis owns the wins tiebreaker 39-35. Brian Elliott stopped 28 shots in regulation, then two more in the game’s final segment to pick up the win. Mark Scheifele tallied twice and Dustin Byfuglien once for the Jets, who dropped their final two games before the Olympic break after winning three straight. Al Montoya made 23 saves in defeat.

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Patrice Bergeron tallied two goals and an assist to fuel a decisive 7-2 win for the Boston Bruins over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, the clubs’ respective finales before the Olympic break. Brad Marchand supplied a goal and two helpers, while Carl Soderberg and Jarome Iginla both added a score and a helper. Milan Lucic and Chris Kelly also scored for the Bruins, winners in three of their last four. Chad Johnson made 26 saves for Boston in its second game without captain Zdeno Chara, who left early for Sochi to serve as Slovakia’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony. Bobby Ryan and Patrick Wiercioch scored for Ottawa, while Craig Anderson allowed five goals before being pulled early in the third. Robin Lehner made seven saves on nine shots for the Senators, who entered the contest with two straight wins.

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Phil Kessel scored the game-winner in the third period as the Toronto Maple Leafs took a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks heading into the Olympic break. Mason Raymond and James van Riemsdyk also scored for the Maple Leafs, who won five of six going into the break. Jonathan Bernier stopped 32 shots in the win. Toronto snapped a long skid against Vancouver, having dropped 11 straight and winning for the first time since a 2-1 victory in Toronto on Nov. 24, 2003. Ryan Kesler had the only goal of the game for the Canucks, who will welcome the break as the team has dropped seven straight for the first time since losing eight in a row from Jan. 9-31, 2009. Also, all of Vancouver’s losses have come in regulation, as the team has dropped seven straight in regular time for the first time since going 0-7 from Dec. 26-Jan. 6 during the 1998-99 season. Roberto Luongo stopped 21-of-24 shots in the loss.

Final Score: Montreal 4, Carolina 1

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – David Desharnais lit the lamp twice as the Montreal Canadiens scored four straight goals to come back and defeat the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-1, at PNC Arena. Ryan White had a goal and an assist and Brian Gionta supplied Montreal’s other goal. Brendan Gallagher contributed two helpers and Carey Price made 31 saves in Montreal’s third straight win. Drayson Bowman scored Carolina’s lone goal and Anton Khudobin allowed three goals on 23 shots as the Hurricanes have dropped two of their last three.
