Jay McClement, James van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak all lit the lamp during the final frame, with Phil Kessel assisting on two of the tallies to help the Leafs to a fourth win in five games. The first two of those goals came against Cedrick Desjardins, pressed into duty for the Lightning after Ben Bishop was forced to exit after two periods with an upper-body injury. Bishop stopped 21-of-22 shots prior to departing, with Desjardins coming up with 11 saves. Ondrej Palat had Tampa Bay’s lone score in the loss, the Lightning’s second straight and fourth in five outings.

Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – The Detroit Red Wings received a pair of goals from Swedish Olympians in Gustav Nyquist and Daniel Alfredsson and pulled out a 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday. Pavel Datsyuk returned from a 14-game absence due to a lower-body injury, and though Russia’s captain was virtually non-existent, the star forward saw the Red Wings improve to 5-1-2 over the past eight games. Jimmy Howard made 16 of his 23 saves in the third period, his only blemish coming on a Scottie Upshall breakaway in the closing seconds of the first. Tim Thomas was a hard- luck loser after a 30-save performance.

Jaden Schwartz had a goal and an assist for the Blues, who bounced back from a 5-4 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. Alexander Steen also lit the lamp. Jaroslav Halak stopped 36-of-38 shots for the victors. David Krejci and Brad Marchand scored for the Bruins, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Tuukka Rask turned aside 24-of-27 shots. Jack Johnson scored the lone goal for the Blue Jackets, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 18-of-20 shots.
