David Krejci also lit the lamp, while Zdeno Chara added a pair of assists for the Bruins, winners in five of their last six overall and haven’t tasted defeat against their former rivals on home ice since 1996. Victor Hedman collected a carom off the end boards and dished to the slot for Thompson, who slid the puck past Carey Price’s left pad and inside the right post. The Lightning killed a Montreal power play that had extended into the extra session. Ben Bishop earned his 27th win with a 28-save performance. He was forced to depart Tampa Bay’s game on Thursday after being struck in the head by the skate of teammate Nikita Kucherov. The Lightning had dropped the first two stops on their four-game road trip. Price stopped 34 shots for Montreal, which has dropped five of its last seven games.

Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) – Jamie McGinn led the way with two goals and one assist, as Colorado whipped Buffalo, 7-1, at Pepsi Center. Nathan MacKinnon totaled a goal and two helpers, Gabriel Landeskog tallied twice and Erik Johnson chipped in with three assists for the Avalanche, winners of three in a row and eight of 10 overall thanks to a season-high for offensive output. Tyson Barrie and Marc-Andre Cliche also produced offense to back a 27-save effort by Semyon Varlamov. Matt D’Agostini registered the lone goal for the Sabres, losers in eight of their last 10. Starter Ryan Miller was yanked after yielding five goals on 27 shots. Jhonas Enroth finished up by allowing two scores on 12 chances.

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Steve Mason recorded his second shutout in his last three games as the Philadelphia Flyers blanked the Los Angeles Kings, 2-0, at Staples Center. Wayne Simmonds tallied his 100th career goal and added an assist against his former team, while Claude Giroux also had a multi-point night after lighting the lamp on a third-period power play. Mason turned aside 35 shots in his third shutout of the season as the Flyers have won two of their last three. Jonathan Quick allowed both goals on 13 shots in the Kings’ third straight defeat.

Chris Neil posted two goals and an assist while Colin Greening also had a goal and an assist for the Senators, who had won two straight coming in. Craig Anderson allowed five goals on 36 shots.

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan Johansen and Boone Jenner both tallied a goal and an assist as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Florida Panthers, 4-1, on Saturday. Mark Letestu and Nick Foligno both lit the lamp and Nathan Horton registered two assists. Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 36 shots for the Blue Jackets, who won their second straight game. St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Vladimir Tarasenko’s third-period goal tied the game and he notched the game-deciding marker in the shootout, giving the St. Louis Blues a 4-3 victory over the Nashville Predators. Jaden Schwartz and David Backers also lit the lamp for the Blues. Brian Elliott made 28 saves as St. Louis won for the fourth time in its last five games. Paul Gaustad, Mike Fisher and Roman Josi scored for the Predators, while Carter Hutton allowed all three goals on 34 shots. Nashville had won two straight entering the contest.

Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) – Mike Smith stopped 23 shots as the Phoenix Coyotes took a 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. Mike Ribeiro had a goal and an assist, while Radim Vrbata and Zbynek Michalek also scored for the Coyotes, who had dropped four of six coming in. Evgeni Malkin had the only goal of the game for the Penguins, who had won four of five entering the contest. Marc-Andre Fleury gave up all three goals on 30 shots in the loss.

Reto Berra stopped 14-of-17 shots in relief. Calgary swept a five-game homestand for the first time since Feb. 7-15, 1997. The hot stretch at home comes just two weeks after the Flames set a franchise record by losing seven straight in their own building. Dany Heatley had a goal and an assist for the Wild, who went 1-1-2 on a four- game road trip. Matt Cooke and Keith Ballard also lit the lamp. Darcy Kuemper turned aside 28-of-32 shots in defeat.

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Dan Ellis had 26 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Dallas Stars posted a 2-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. Trevor Daley and Jamie Benn scored for the Stars, who had lost their previous two. Jonas Hiller gave up just one goal on 26 shots in the loss for the Ducks, who were coming off a 5-3 win over Philadelphia on Thursday.

San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Joe Pavelski, Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton all scored in the shootout to give the San Jose Sharks a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. Pavelski also lit the lamp in regulation for the Sharks, who snapped a three-game skid. Antti Niemi stopped 29-of-30 shots. Brandon Saad scored for the Blackhawks, who have lost five of their past six games. Corey Crawford turned aside 38-of-39 shots.
