Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) – Joffrey Lupul was credited with the game- winner after all three Toronto shooters scored in the shootout to lift the Maple Leafs to a 4-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday at Air Canada Centre. James van Riemsdyk opened the shootout with a wrister past Ryan Miller, but Matt Moulson answered at the other end to even the score. Lupul then lifted a shot high over Miller’s glove from between the circles and after Buffalo’s Cody Hodgson came up empty, Tyler Bozak lit the lamp to send the Leafs to their third straight win. Nikolai Kulemin, Morgan Rielly and Phil Kessel each scored once in regulation for the Leafs, who saw James Reimer record 27 saves in the victory. Hodgson, Moulson and Matt Ellis scored a goal apiece for Buffalo, which has lost two straight and five of its last seven games. Miller made 36 saves in defeat.

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) – Olli Maatta scored the go-ahead goal with 1:54 remaining in the third period, and the Pittsburgh Penguins set a franchise record with a 13th consecutive home win by edging the Washington Capitals, 4-3. Kris Letang, Jussi Jokinen and Taylor Pyatt also scored for the Penguins, who are 5-0-1 in their last six games. Marc-Andre Fleury earned the win with 25 saves. The Capitals have lost three straight and seven of their last nine games (2-3-4). Washington had taken a 3-2 lead on Alex Ovechkin’s NHL-best 34th goal of the season at 8:35 of the third, but Jokinen tied the game three minutes later while the teams skated 4-on-4. Maatta then gave Pittsburgh its only lead of the game when he took an Evgeni Malkin pass and snapped a wrist shot from atop the left circle through a Pyatt screen. Brooks Laich and Jason Chimera supplied the other goals for Washington, which got 33 saves from Michal Neuvirth.

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Teemu Selanne, Corey Perry and Nick Bonino each scored two goals in the Anaheim Ducks’ 9-1 thrashing of the Vancouver Canucks at Honda Center. The Ducks set a club record for goals and power-play goals (6) in a single game. Perry added two assists for Anaheim, which has won eight straight and 18 of its last 19 games. The Ducks won their 10th straight home game and are 20-0-2 at Honda Center this season. Frederik Andersen got the start in net for an ill Jonas Hiller and made 31 saves. Hiller is tied for the second-longest winning streak in a single NHL season with 14 consecutive victories. The Canucks have dropped seven of eight.
