Making his first appearance since spraining his right wrist on Jan. 5, Bishop allowed just Brad Richards’ first-period goal on 34 shots to outduel Henrik Lundqvist and put an end to the Rangers’ season high-tying three-game win streak. Lundqvist finished with 23 saves.

Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) – The San Jose Sharks’ run of dominance over the Washington Capitals continued with Tuesday’s 2-1 shootout win at Verizon Center. Patrick Marleau was called for the Sharks’ lone minor penalty when he hooked down Mikhail Grabovski with 1:15 remaining in regulation. The Sharks killed off the Washington power play that bled into overtime, and Marleau wound up scoring the lone shootout goal in the second round of the tiebreaker. Marleau moved the puck from the backhand to the forehand and fired a shot past Philipp Grubauer and in off the left post. San Jose goaltender Antti Niemi stopped 35 shots and needed to make only one save in the shootout after both Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom missed the net. The Sharks have won six straight against the Capitals and 17 of the last 18 meetings dating back to the 1999-2000 season. Grubauer made 28 saves.

Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Vincent Lecavalier’s goal with 14.8 seconds left in regulation capped a wild third period and sent Philadelphia to a 4-3 win over Buffalo on Tuesday. On the shift prior, Lecavalier’s prayer from the left wing deflected off a Sabres stick, fooled Jhonas Enroth and almost crossed the goal line. As time wound down in regulation, Matt Read fished a loose puck out of a scrum at the left post and dished back to the veteran, who ended a 13-game scoring drought with a rising shot from the bottom of the circle. Brayden Schenn and Scott Hartnell also lit the lamp in a three-goal third period for the Flyers, who picked up a crucial road victory after dropping games over the weekend to the Lightning and Rangers. Steve Mason did just enough to snag the win, making 16 saves. Cody Hodgson, Matt D’Agostini and Tyler Ennis tallied for the Sabres, whose eight-game home point streak (6-0-2) came to an end. Steve Ott chipped in two assists in defeat, while Enroth stopped 29 shots.

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) – Jaromir Jagr passed Mark Messier for No. 7 on the NHL’s all-time goals list and the New Jersey Devils beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 on Tuesday night. Jagr got his 695th goal late in the first period to tie the game as the Devils scored four unanswered for their third win in four games. Eric Gelinas, Adam Henrique and Dainius Zubrus also lit the lamp and Martin Brodeur made 29 saves. Jagr, who scored for the first time since Dec. 21, moved past Messier three days after passing his former teammate Mario Lemieux for seventh place on the all-time points list with an assist against Florida. Max Pacioretty scored for the Canadiens, who had won four of their last five against New Jersey, and Carey Price gave up three goals on just 18 shots.

Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) – Scottie Upshall notched a goal and an assist, as the Florida Panthers halted New York’s seven-game road win streak with a 4-2 victory over the Islanders at BB&T Center. Drew Shore, Aleksander Barkov and Nick Bjugstad each scored once, while Tim Thomas turned aside 31 shots for Florida, which improved to 4-1-2 over its last seven games. Colin McDonald and Thomas Vanek both lit the lamp for the Islanders, who suffered their first road loss since a 6-3 setback in Phoenix on Dec. 12. Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored the only goal of the game for the Coyotes, who have dropped their past four games. Mike Smith stopped 16 shots in the loss.

Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Ryan Garbutt tallied a goal and two assists, as the Dallas Stars snapped their lengthy losing skid with a 5-2 triumph over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday at American Airlines Center. Dallas had dropped six in a row in regulation for the first time since Dec. 5-15, 1995 coming into the contest, but got a goal and an assist apiece from Trevor Daley, Jamie Benn and Cody Eakin to notch its first win of 2014. Erik Cole also lit the lamp, while Kari Lehtonen stopped 31 shots to record the victory. Justin Schultz and Sam Gagner each registered a goal, while Ilya Bryzgalov allowed four goals on 29 shots in the setback, Edmonton’s second in a row and seventh in its last nine games.
