Mike Tyson on the Great White Way? In a one-man show? While the idea may sound preposterous to some, those who have already seen the show, Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth, in Las Vegas know just what a treat New York audiences are in for.

Tyson’s one-man show just wrapped up on April 18 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, after just a five day run. Within those five days though, Tyson showed thousands of audience members a side of himself they may have never seen. Gone is the tough guy, and there’s no longer any trace of the man that can make you quake just by crossing his path. In his place is a man in a simple black shirt and white coat, with a very sad story.

In Undisputed Truth, Tyson hits the lows in his life rather than focusing on the highs, touching on things such as his alcoholic mother; and one of the lowest points in his life, his infamous fight with Evander Holyfield. His voice may be light and squeaky, and it may not have quite the projection required for Broadway, but Spike Lee is stepping in to help with all of that.

Spike Lee will be reshaping the Vegas show and making it more adaptable for Broadway audiences, who are known to have much higher expectations from the shows they attend. Spike Lee also has connections with Jimmy Nederlander Jr., a theater owner that could have many venues that will make a good fit with Tyson’s voice. In addition to being directed by Spike Lee, the show has also bee co-written by Randy Johnson and Tyson’s wife, Kiki. The show could appear on Broadway as early as this summer.
