Indians OF Bourn has hamstring surgery

Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – The Cleveland Indians announced on Tuesday that outfielder Michael Bourn underwent surgery on his left hamstring.

The procedure, called a distal hamstring debridement, was performed in Dallas by Dr. Dan Cooper.

Bourn suffered the injury while attempting to steal a base in the Tribe’s final regular-season game against the Minnesota Twins on Sept. 29. He was able to play in the team’s wild card loss to Tampa Bay three days later.

The 30-year-old is expected to start rehab at his home in Houston this week and be fully recovered in 4-to-6 weeks.

Bourn hit .263 with six triples, 21 doubles, six homers and 50 RBI in 130 games for Cleveland in 2013.
