Death of a Salesman” is one of those plays that is put on in schools, community theaters, and backyards all around the world, but no one might do it better than Philip Seymour Hoffman; and he’s coming to Broadway in a revival of the show that now has a timely twist.

There’s no doubt that audiences will appreciate and relate to this showing of the classic play now more than ever. The story that follows the financial misfortune of a salesman father and his two sons already speaks volumes to current economic times. But the fact that the producers have also thrown in a plot line about trying to pay off a very long mortgage will make it resonate that much more with anyone that’s felt the nation’s own economic turmoil over the past several years.

Hoffman takes on the role of Willy Loman, and it’s one that he’s familiar with; he played the part in one of his very first performances, a high school play. Linda Emond will take up the role of Willy’s wife, Linda; and Andrew Garfield will play the role of the disappointing son, Billy — who Willy continually tries to convince to take u the family business.

The show was delayed for its first preview after Hoffman came down with the flu, but the show is expected to officially open on March 15 and run through until June 2 at the Barrymore Theater. With two-time Tony award nominee taking the stage, and a great cast to support him, this showing of the Broadway play might just be the best one yet!
