Cavs’ Dellavedova diagnosed with MCL sprain
Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) – Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova has been diagnosed with a sprained left MCL and is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.
Dellavedova was injured in the fourth quarter of a 101-82 loss in Portland on Tuesday. He was held out of the final two games of Cleveland’s four-game road trip and was diagnosed with the MCL sprain upon returning home.
The Australian native made the Cavaliers as an undrafted free agent last season and averaged 4.7 points and 2.6 assists per game.
Sixth man Dion Waiters also suffered a lower back contusion on Cleveland’s road trip, although his injury is much less serious. Waiters left Friday’s win in Denver after Nuggets forward Darrell Arthur committed a hard foul, forcing Waiters to fall on his back. Arthur was ejected on the play.
Waiters, who is averaging 9.4 points this season, is questionable to play in Cleveland’s home game against the Pelicans on Monday.
