Bon Jovi Opens Up About New Album

Bon Jovi can always be counted on to put out great music on albums that are flawless from the first note to the last. But the band is coming out with a new record next month and just to up the ante a little, they’ve also put a bit of intrigue into the promotion of this one.

Jon Bon Jovi said himself at a London press conference this week that the album will still be a “big rock record,” the type that the Jersey boy has been known for putting out. But, it will also include “a lot of social commentary.” That commentary will focus on a “moment in time — a post first-term Obama, where America was and is.” He says that commentary will focus on things such as the unemployment issues facing Americans today, the economy, and a host of other social issues as well.

“There’s a little more telling tales with some of the songs,” he said in the same press conference. “What’s Left of Me talks about people coming out of the economic downturn. Just because companies are going out of business doesn’t mean those people aren’t able-bodied parts of the workforce.”

But along with this record, Jon Bon Jovi also talked about how hard it is just to sell records today, and what his band is doing in order to combat that. When fans buy the physical CD as well as an app to go along with it, they’ll get album art that changes on a daily basis and allows them to keep in touch with the band.

“When you take the CD package home from a retail outlet and put it up on your wall, not only will the app work, but we’ll update that living, breathing piece of paper every night during the course of the tour.”
