Wise Dan finalist for 2013 Horse of the Year
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Reigning Horse of the Year Wise Dan is a finalist for that honor as the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, National Turf Writers And Broadcasters and Daily Racing Form announced the finalists for the 2013 Eclipse Awards on Wednesday morning.
The finalists in 17 Equine and Human categories were revealed with the winners to be announced at the 43rd annual Eclipse Awards Saturday evening, Jan. 18 at Gulfstream Park Racetrack and Casino in Hallandale Beach, Fla.
Wise Dan, owned by Morton Fink and trained by Charles LoPresti, is joined in the Horse of the Year category by Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Mucho Macho Man and Travers champ Will Take Charge.
Wise Dan, who won his second straight Breeders’ Cup Mile on Nov. 2, is also a finalist for champion Older Male and Male Turf Horse. The 7-year-old gelding won the three Eclipse Awards last year.
