USADA Provides Their Evidence against Lance Armstrong

On Wednesday, it became much harder for Lance Armstrong to argue the case that he was innocent of all doping charges against him during his years as a professional cyclist. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released a very damning 200 page report stating their case, and showing their evidence, which includes some huge names in cycling. And even though with this new report it may be harder for Armstrong to fight the charges, that’s exactly what he’s still doing.

The USADA report includes the testimony of 11 of Armstrong’s former teammates, stating that Armstrong not only used drugs during professional cycling, but that he encouraged them to do so. Some of the most important testimony in the report comes from cyclists such as George Hincapie, Tyler Hamilton, Floyd Landis, and Michael Barry.

In addition to this testimony, the report also includes a step-by-step outline of just how Lance Armstrong ran his drug program, and what measures had to be taken along the way to allow him to do so. USADA CEO Travis Tygart says that when the sanction is officially filed, the evidence against Armstrong will be over 1,000 pages in length. He has also said that the scandal has shed light on such a serious issue within the sport of cycling; and he hopes to use it as a chance to clean up the sport.

Armstrong has not fought the charges or the stripping of the titles, but he does continue to proclaim his innocence. He has stated that those providing testimony against him are only doing so in exchange for lower punishments themselves; and that this is simply a continuation of USADA’s witch hunt.
