Charlottesville, VA (SportsNetwork.com) – Virginia wasn’t about to let another home game against a top conference foe slip away. Malcolm Brogdon scored 15 points, the Cavaliers played their traditionally stifling defense, and the nation’s third-ranked team survived a last-ditch comeback effort from No. 9 Louisville to hold on for a 52-47 victory at John Paul Jones Arena. Virginia (21-1, 9-1 ACC) couldn’t hold an 11-point second-half lead last Saturday against Duke for its lone blemish of the season, and had a late 10-point advantage whittled down to three in this one when the Cardinals put forth a 10-3 run capped by Chris Jones’ driving layup with 18.3 seconds remaining. Jones was fouled on the play but missed the free throw, however, before Brogdon hit two from the line to seal the result. The ACC-leading Cavaliers also overcame a 33.3 percent shooting display and the absence of leading scorer Justin Anderson, who sat out the entire second half with a left hand injury that limited him to two points on a 1-of-9 performance in the first. Louisville (19-4, 7-3), which was held to a brutal 4-of-21 field goal rate in the first half, had a four-game win streak snapped despite Terry Rozier’s 16 points. Montrezl Harrell and Jones finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively, in defeat.

Durham, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – Notre Dame ran into a buzzsaw at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday afternoon and remained winless at Duke. Matt Jones scored 15 of his career-high 17 points in the first half and the fourth- ranked Blue Devils got their revenge with a 90-60 rout of the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame (21-4, 9-3 ACC) had won two straight against Duke (20-3, 7-3), including a thrilling 77-73 decision on Jan. 28 in South Bend. But the Blue Devils came out of the gates on fire Saturday, shooting 81 percent from the field and going 7-of-8 from beyond the arc in the first half. Notre Dame, meanwhile, went 8-of-22 from the floor and found themselves down 50-24 at the break. The Fighting Irish fell to 0-7 all-time at Duke. Saturday marked Notre Dame’s first visit to Cameron Indoor Stadium since Jan. 26, 1994.

McConnell had a game-high 25 points to lead Arizona (20-3, 8-2) but the Wildcats were never able to take the lead after halftime despite pulling within two on several occasions.

Utah (18-4, 8-2 Pac-12) is tied atop the conference with No. 6 Arizona, which was upset by Arizona State earlier Saturday. The Utes picked up their 12th victory of 20 points or more this season, breaking a tie with Notre Dame for most in the country. The have won four of their last five games. Dominique Collier had 11 points for Colorado and Josh Scott scored 10 but the Buffaloes (11-11, 4-6) shot under 29 percent in their sixth loss in eight games.

Reed Timmer scored 10 points and was the only player in double-digits for the Bulldogs (7-17, 4-8), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Ron Baker scored 17 and Darius Carter scored 10 for Wichita State, which has won back-to-back contests since a 70-54 loss at Northern Iowa on Jan. 31. The triple-double for VanVleet was the first for the Shockers since Terry Benton had one on Jan. 29, 1972 against Tulsa. Gavin Thurman scored nine and Chris Kendrix had eight points for the Bears (9-15, 3-9), who have lost two straight and nine of their last 10 games.

Royce O’Neale and Taurean Prince each scored 15 for the Bears (18-5, 6-4 Big 12), who ripped off 21 straight points early in the contest to make it a laugher. Kenny Chery and Al Freeman contributed 11 points apiece in the victory. Baylor shot 54.9 percent overall en route to its third straight dominating win. The Bears beat Texas by 23 and TCU by 20 in their previous two games. Devin Williams led West Virginia with 20 points and 15 rebounds. It was a second straight dismal outing for the Mountaineers (18-5, 6-4), who were coming off Tuesday’s 71-52 drubbing at Oklahoma.

VCU’s JeQuan Lewis made two free throws and Jordan Burgess added a layup to even things up at 71-71 with 16.5 seconds to play. But Posley prevented overtime with his layup at the other end. On Wednesday, Posley also beat the buzzer to give St. Bonaventure a 62-61 win over Davidson. Posley made four 3- pointers en route to 15 points for the Bonnies (13-8, 6-4 A-10). Dion Wright had 19 points and eight rebounds. Terry Larrier ended with 15 points off the bench for the Rams (18-5, 8-2), who have lost two of three. Lewis and Melvin Johnson contributed 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The Wildcats, meanwhile, dropped a fourth straight contest and played their second consecutive game without leading scorer Marcus Foster, suspended by head coach Bruce Weber earlier in the week for violations of team rules. Kansas State (12-12, 5-6) shot just 31.9 percent but hit 8-of-16 attempts from 3-point range to keep it close.
