Snow and cold force tracks to cancel
Laurel. MD (SportsNetwork.com) – The poor winter weather continues to cause canceled programs in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Laurel Park announced that Wednesday’s racing card is canceled following a major snow storm Tuesday and severe cold temperatures.
“It is better to wait and clear the track after it stopped snowing,” Maryland Jockey Club Director of Racing Georganne Hale said. “It is brutally cold out there which could have been an issue with the jocks. It is not bearable out there today for horse or rider but we should be good to go tomorrow when the temperatures rise a bit.”
Penn National near Harrisburg, Pa. and Charles Town Races have also canceled Wednesday night cards because of the extreme weather conditions. All tracks will try to race Thursday.
