NHL Trade Deadline Day Recap
In a day that’s usually full of frenzy, panic, and major headlines, yesterday’s trade deadline day in the NHL was pretty humdrum — near boring, in fact. The biggest talk of the day wasn’t of a deal that was going to be made, but one that wasn’t; that’s the case of Rick Nash. People were already talking last week that it just didn’t look like Nash was going to get traded, and that proved to be right at 3:00 pm EST yesterday. The fact still remains that Nash only has a handful of teams he wants to go to, and the Blue Jackets aren’t in any position to just give him away. So for now, he plays on for Columbus and will miss yet another playoff season. In the meantime, here are the 15 trades that did go down yesterday:
- Nashville Predators traded a second-round draft 2013 draft pick and a conditional fifth-round 2013 draft pick for Andrei Kostitsyn from the Montreal Canadiens.
- Nashville Predators trade a first-round 2012 draft pick to the Buffalo Sabres for forward Paul Gaustad.
